The Old Folks Home

Lol. Thedailydemocrat? Recon a dailyrepublican would stand a chance in California? :)
The paper here has been called the daily democrat since the late 1800's...back when the Democrats were conservative and the republicans were liberal.

ideology has switched in the parties over time

Now see, here I am in a small city and it’s only 94. At home when it’s 94 the breeze is refreshing, coming through the woods. But here the breeze is coming down the asphalt. We are indoors anyway with a sick baby. She is getting better but wow, so very cranky and miserable!
Hope she recovers quickly, poor dear!

Thanks for that link, Ron. Interesting material. The decision I made to hustle the eggs out to the coop and stuff them under the broody hens that have been sitting on fake eggs was based on the fact that it was 10:30PM. The lights were out and I didn't want to sit up watching the thermometer and wondering why the lights weren't coming back on.

Since this was our first power outage, we had no idea how long it would take for the damage to be fixed or how bad it was. We called in the outage and they said it was a widespread outage in our area. Last time that happened to us in IL it was a 3+day nightmare because the power company fixed every bit of ice storm damage except a downed line on a short gravel road that nobody checked on.....

So I decided to take the safe route and make sure the eggs didn't chill overnight in case the power didn't come back on. I'm glad I did.

@trumpeting_angel, sure hope baby gets to feeling better. Nothing worse than feeling crappy and not being able to communicate what's wrong.

Keep track of that article-- next time you might not have any broody hens. That happens so often!

You were very lucky that some were broody when you needed them

Okay guys, my son finally put up the link to his 109 photos from his Japanese vacation.

Also put up some beautiful murals - someone painted at a local park.(here) Including some Native Amercan that may look like the elusive 007. Who knows?

Sorry the link is posted at "On this rambling thread we post randon photos." Hope you will enjoy them.

The photo is of Frances on a better day!

She has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease, painful and itchy blisters in all those places and more, plus a fever. Poor darlin’. My daughter was almost out of her mind with the sweetie waking up miserable, crying when she tried to eat, and crying when she sucked her thumb, up at all hours and exhausted for the rest. I had forgotten what a dreadful thing it is parenting a baby. Her husband is away, coming home tomorrow.

I’m so glad I could drop everything and come help! Even if I did nothing but sit on the couch, the moral support was essential. My DD, crying at night with her crying baby.

Little Frances (“Frankie”) is the light of our lives and watching her suffer is so hard.

Okay, enough! She is learning to sing and it’s the most darling thing EVER!

Sorry. I AM that grandma!
