The Old Folks Home

Still on Lizard watch here. Every time I saw it yesterday it scampered under the narrow crack under the door and ran under the freezer. I've named it LeRoy and hope I can get him caught and released soon...sure hope I haven't gender confused the poor little thing.

I keep remembering the old WKRP episode where one of the characters announced he was getting his apartment fumigated they asked him what for and he announced "Lizards'.

3 new chick out of the shell this morning. One more zipping then I have a two week break until the last two are due to hatch.

Bruce, thanks for posting those pictures. The breeder who gave me what he claimed was a Fayoumi juvie looks just like you EE chicks.

The last time he was here he wanted to see her and I told him, I didn't think she was a Fayoumi comparing her to my Fayoumi pullets. He looked at her and agreed. He had his doubts when I told him I was getting blue/green eggs from one of my hens.

So much for NPIP knowledge LOL. We had a good laugh over it. Bet he's kicking himself for giving her away.

We had a pair of blue tailed skinks in TN that lived in our door space. Sometimes one or the other would come inside. But they always would go back out themselves. The door was pretty beat up. The sill was cracked, so they came and went at will.
We seem to have skinks here, but only one made it's way in and the cats pounced on it. It lost its tail, but I caught it and put it back outside.
We also have toads that come up the steps onto the porch to eat the bugs that gather around the porch light.

I saw a blue tailed skink yesterday out in one of the chicken beautiful little creature. I told it to run for its life and made sure it exited the run. This one is I think they call them a 7 stripes skink. No blue tail. Just fast as greased lightening.. The skinks and hellbenders are the main lizards around us. The hellbenders are protected and endangered.

Got 4 healthy chicks. I had to help out #4 as it had 75% of the shell zipped but the membrane was drying out on it and tough. I didn't see any blood vessels so I went ahead and tore it out under mom's watchful eye. I'm so glad I checked on it as it was probably doomed without help.

Cap we had the same thing happen with our deck door before we finally got tired of chasing out the lizards and dealing with flies. One of the cats got the tail on one of them. He hung around all summer and was called Stumpy. Just funny to see these little things scurrying around in your house when they invite themselves in. I just shrug them off anymore knowing they will find their way out eventually. In the mean time they are keeping house insects down.

I was thinking the ones with blue tails are males and those without are females? I know how fast skinks are, have been catching lizards since I was a kid. They are easier to catch if it is cool out.

I have rarely had the same doctor recently for more than a year because insurance keeps changing. I hate it.

That is sad When I was so sick last year ended up at the emergency room in Morton had a Dr. I liked asked there yesterday if he had a practice they said only in the hospital but not outside the emergency room that I did not like but they have a 3 Dr. practice next door so trying to get in touch with them
