I long for those refreshing nights when I was about 10 years old when I could sleep like the dead and wake up totally refreshed.
I remember those days. I am a big believer in chamomile tea.

Well, I might give it a try. Over ice?KnobbyOaks, normally I detest warm tea and never drink it other wise. You can put some orange juice and a little sweetner in it, or just brew it and cool it before you drink it.
Will try that too. A really old diet but tried and true ones are still around. I think I might have the book unless I sold it in a garage sale in one of my many, over-the-years, downsizings. Don't remember the strawberries and cream for dessert though.I have been back on Atkins (Low carb) for just under a week. I feel better already and I have seen some improvement in my quality of sleep. I am never hungry and the hardest thing for me is to make myself eat on a schedule. I will lose weight if I remember to eat something! For those of you wanting to shed a few pounds, try it. Two eggs - any style, one sausage patty or several pieces of bacon with coffee, (no toast or biscuits) half and half for breakfast - grilled chicken breast on a chef salad with cheese, ham, boiled eggs, cucumber, celery, turkey, mushrooms, real ranch or Oil and Vinegar dressing (no crackers or croutons) at lunch time. Then for supper, grilled or fried pork chops (no breading) steamed broccoli with melted cheese, green beans seasoned with garlic and bacon grease and strawberries and blue berries in heavy cream for dessert. Add the fact that you are never hungry and anybody can do it! I really recommend that you read the book or at least the first 11 short chapters if you want to try it so you will understand how/why it works.

Atkins is good but the problem is not really the carbs but what grain in the carbs. Wheat was changed years ago to increase production. That change is not healthy for us. Add to that, the pesticides that grow in the corn and other grains that have been made BT and Round Up Ready. BT Ready grains, when eaten but Us, causes the lining of our stomach to allow too big of molecules in. That gives us a leaky stomach and messes up enzymes, hormones and etc.
Reduce wheat, Corn and Soy Beans. Organic is better, but wheat is still bad because of the change. It is not Celiac and it is not the Gluten but it is why so many people without Celiac Disease feel better when they limit wheat.
I read a study that said one of the best things you can do health wise is to drink Green and white tea drinks. There are a lot of them with different flavors. I like the Lipton pyramid tea bags. Blue berry and Pomegranate is one of my favorites. It is a White tea. Of course, try to drink a not caffeinated version at night. There are several of those too.
Now if I could only follow my own advice.....![]()
