SCG there probably will still be some snow on the tops even when you come out. They are not fully clear of alll the snow until May-June. Granted it won't be that much (well better not be that much) but there will still be some. What kind of camera do you have? I will see if I can do a little research on how you play with the settings. Make sure you have a really big capacity SD card or a way to download them every day.
How was my morning?? I don't know. I slept till 1:03 this afternoon. Still hurt from being out back for 6:30 last night till 11. I filled every feeder, scrubbed every waterer and filled it and set it back up, and filled every nest box. This included the dogs and 16 ohhh 17 rabbits. Neighbors found a young rabbit in the street and brought it to me. I almost forgot her because she's away from everyone till I know she's not sick.
Gonna post these in the CA thread too, but remember my hen that is one of the rogue birds around here? She's been gone since the other night when probably 20 dogs were running the area. Three Ive never seen before and BIG. The puppy did good waiting for me to get up, so after my otty break, I took him out for his. I heard clucking and knew the rooster thats been waiting for that hen to come back was in my drive. Here he comes and about 3 ft behind him was THE HEN! I had 4 senerios as to her disappearacne and I think the one where I thought she may have a nest, may be correct. He wallked her to the far end of the porch and she quickly attacked the pup, who is now not having it and got upset, and then started eating his food. Had to ge tthe pup to calm down and then grabbed some Summer Blend scratch and tossed it at the other end of the porch for her. The roo was doing his job guarding her and letting her eat. He's still out there pacing back and forth while she eats, so I managed to get some pics. Keep in mind there are probably 40 of these birds in my neighborhood and I have these 2 thinking this is where they live. Truth be known, there is a beautiful roo out there that if I catch him.............He's mine! Absolutely gorgeous and husky and tall. Don't know why this girl picked this roo. Kind of like the mutts my youngest daughter calls boyfriends I guess.

I can't figre out where she goes. She goes down the drive and there's no way into the garage. The dog run is right over the fence and the neighbors have 3 chicken eating Beagles. There's onlt one spot I can think of. When Bill died our van started acting up. He had bought arts to fix it and didn't get the chance. I bought my car and the van needed work which still hasn't happend, so for 2 years now it's been sitting near the garage. I've seen her go under and not come out and when I gwt down to look, she's not there. The pups I've trained not to leave the yard, have been taking off and going under the van as well. Somewhere up under my van I believe is a nest. I don't know where, I don't know how she has them up there not rolling out and I have no idea how they'll make it if they hatch, but guess if she has room, they'll be fne, but this is bugging me. I'm thinking some time around the 15th, I'll surround the van in poultry net and see if I can get hold of anything that hatches.
And Tick! Yes when it's made at home it can be JUST COFFEE! I may go out and buy me a real one today! Tomorrow for sure. It'll be my BDay gift to myself! I see this is going ot be an ongoing discussion.. LOL
Marraduna is the color--reddish brown. There are 5 or 6 different types of Basque chickens. These are the only ones in the US currently. Some are trying to tease out the white ones. There is a naked neck version and a black meat bird too. They were preserved in Spain in the 1980s. They are gorgeous birds and the cockerels make great dinner. The boy in the picture above is young. He got to be a lot bigger before he went to Rooster Rescue.
The full name is Euskal Oila Marraduna Basque Hen.
Well that was fun looking them up. Hardy and healthy, great in the cold or heat. Sounds like a good bird to have around here. We get both. Love the ~ what I am calling the barred pattern look on them. Very pretty colors too. The hens have that cute black speckling in or around their neck. And then the tail has the black. Very nice. )
I just got the DSLR for Dummies book and I can already tell my pics are going to be so much better. I have wanted to get away from "full auto" for a long time but reading the manual for the camera either put me to sleep or confused me totally. Here are the results from just reading specific parts on how to take landscape shots
View from my back patio.
At first I thought these were photos from your how-to instruction booklet-- BUt it YOUR back yard. I'm awed--by the view and your picture taking skills.
