Chicken tiaras!

I have some divas and I think I should be able to buy them little bitty tiaras somewhere, but apparently that's a product not YET available anywhere.

Gosh I wish I was handy at crafts, but I am dangerous with crafting tools. I glue my fingers together, burn myself with the hot glue gun, pierce myself with wire and pins, find sequins in the most amazing places later on... Whole hosts of difficulties.

Who here feels silly and interested enough to make Hen Diva Tiaras for me?
I'll make you some, but how will they stay on?? hmmmmm Can't clip them on. OHHHH I know! .............

Oh, THANK you! Now I need to see it on a model.

I have been thinking on this, but the story would be full of all the mishaps along the way. (Thats probably what y'all are hoping, right?). I'm not sure the end result would be usable, either. However, bamachick has already triggered some ideas for me.

Hey, where did my multi-quote bit from Wisher go??? That's the best suggestion and it was the first. Maybe I can do this to get some ideas (and hopefully clear instructions)!

There's a bit of a backstory on this.... When I was in treatment for breast cancer, I felt pretty crappy. Duh. The Miss America Pageant happened to be broadcast on TV just after I was diagnosed (and silently terrified). I fixated on the tiaras. Suddenly, I felt I deserved one of my own, so I went spelunking on the Internet to try to find one made of real rhinestones (not felt, sequins, plastic, none of that. A REAL tiara!) - this was in 2003. Found one, finally, bought it and sat around wearing it fairly regularly... At home. I did wear it a couple of times seated on scarves, once I lost my hair. It wasn't the kind with combs, but a full circle to rest on one's head; I had considered those bald days when I ordered it. Because I'd mentioned it to my oncology team of specialists, each of them requested I wear it for them at least once. Those were actually great days, during three of my chemo infusion cycles, during the last week of radiation treatment, and in my surgeon's waiting room and office for a follow-up exam after the port a-cath was removed from my chest.

That tiara was unfortunately destroyed subsequent to the mad furniture move to this property, as it had been draped over a post on the headboard of my old bed (which didn't get moved). It was forced into a box with other miscellaneous items; that box got run over. That crumpled box was left out in the rain up here.... And the ducks liberated the bent out of shape tiara.. The geese carried it into their kiddie pool!

There are now many, many more rhinestone tiara vendors on the 'Net, now. I'm going to replace it. Every woman deserves a tiara.

Now... Rhinestones and metal would be too heavy for chickens. But some of them, too, deserve their own tiaras!

Great story, and I can actually picture this. :)

Can't wait to see what Kim comes up with.

Arielle, did your phone go off this morning around 3:30?

BF's went off first, with the BEEEEEP beeep of the national emergency alert. Then mine went off. We both shot out of bed.

I had no idea my phone could make that noise.

"Blizzard warning until 4PM Saturday. Prepare. Avoid Travel. Check Media. -NWS"

Thanks for alerting me at 3:30 that we have a blizzard coming. Guess I'll get up and prepare. And change my pants.

SCG really glad your friend is coming in early. If they are actually activating the national warning system because of the storm you are probably going to see more than 4-5 inches (which is what usually happens when the weather men say a big storm is coming). Be careful. We are supposed to get snow starting this afternoon into Sunday. I am guessing not nearly as much as you since my phone didn't ring at 3:30 (don't need to change pants here

) but I do need to track down some hay today before it gets going. Linda so sorry you had to go through that but I see you did it in your typical style. I can so see you with a tiara on your head fighting back the fears. Good for you and I know that all of us are so happy you beat the cancer.

If Kim or anyone else comes up with something that will stay on a chicken's head long enough to get a picture, you have GOT TO SHARE!!!

I think you should try. The selling point is your own blood on each one. As weird as the kids are today, I can see Pet Rock type money in this. MMM, maybe even more. laughs...
You should make different sizes for all types of animals and maybe those darling Princesses, some people raise..

You can see my blood on all my projects. The Missus says it adds character to them all.

Just my two cents.

darn, I guess I should read the whole Thread before posting...

Ok, lost power for 4 hours, lots of rain, muddy everything, gusty winds. Oh how I would rather have some snow. Less mess really. It's easier to pick up Horse poops in the snow that out of the flooded areas. The chickens don't swim, but may have to learn soon. I think the local Y has chicken swimming lessons. All in all a good day. You Northerners take care. The news makes your storm look really bad, but really, it's winter, what do they expect??? It's not like you never get snow. sheesh

Tick, I would be glad to give you some of the snow that we have just started getting.

It's looking to be 12 " plus here with the folks in New England REALLY getting hammered.

Linda, loved the 'history of the tiara' story!

Here's what our local weather man says about the northeast today:

"Blizzard conditions expected by evening; 24-36 inches of snow, winds in excess of 60 mph with gusts to hurricane force, widespread power outages, severe coastal storm surge damage, complete travel disruption."

Whew! I hope those of you affected can stay toasty and warm.

I'm really worried about the impact on the Jersey shore. A lot of the dunes were removed by Sandy making everything vulnerable to a storm surge. "Nemo" When did we start naming winter storms? And why Nemo? It's not trying to escape us - we want to escape IT!
