They did say that most people are sold out of bees by January 1st, so I probably won't get any this year. I..."
hi Superchemicalgirl

I used to keep bees many years ago for a friend's farm, but that was 30 yrs ago and am gearing back up towards having a couple hives but not this year. But! the reason I'm replying is that many of the larger firms will be selling from about now through the middle of summer, so you could still get bees and queens. try Bushy Mountain bees and do a web search. You'll be able to get started, and check for the local bee keepers, often they have a hive or two that need to be divided so thy don't swarm and you can get bees that way.

Well, SCG, there goes your excuse.....

I am now the proud owner of a dishwasher. It's not yet installed, but it's here. <*happy dance*> Gonna have to schedule the installation with John The Contractor.

The delivery guys were concerned it was only delivery, not installation. I am probably going to need a new sink faucet - if not, cool, but I kinda hope I do need a new one, 'cause I dislike the current faucet. But there's gonna need to be some special piping to put the outflow into the grey water piping, not into the septic tank.

I "tipped" the two delivery men a half dozen eggs apiece. One of the guys asked if he could come back some day with his six year old son to see the chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. They were Hispanic, so conversation was a little rocky. They were very impressed with Sarge the MW Tom, (formerly and inaccurately named Madge) strutting and displaying his most wonderful masculinity. "Albino?". "No, Blanco pequeno, natural."

After they left, Punkin got very agitated and tried to peck her way through the front porch screen material, so I let her onto the porch. She ran into the house and laid her egg in the dog bed, then wanted back outside. Beth had already laid her egg in the laundry basket before I got up.

Miss Sparkle's eggs are due to hatch - if I have managed to pick fertile eggs to give her - this Saturday. If all goes well, I'll be able to let her former people know she's a momma.

Thank you for the poke and prod. I had looked at Kelley's Bees, but they only ship to zones 1-4 with "insurance" and zone 5 is "at your own risk." Guess which zone I'm in?

I have a package of Italians from a local keeper who will be driving south to get some. May 18th!!!

You need a reality show. I'd watch it.

it is me or does the site seem to be loading slow today???

I mean, I am having dial up flash backs trying to load the forum. I even think I hear the old dial up noise....

all other sites load normal, just This one seems slow...

Except for that, a brisk cold windy day here. I can handle the heat, rain, snow and even normal cold but that brisk, cold wind just takes it out of me...
Seems to get through my clothes and to my skin. Burrrrrrrr....

.

Lucky the chickens and the other animals still have their winter coats....
I have mine but it seems to have leaks in it..

sheesh...
I hear the dial up noise every day . . . oh yah, it's because I do have dial up!! Just came from the library--the fast connections is WONDERFULLLLLL. Someday. I can get Fios but I"m not keen on how they would run their cable underground for 1200 feet and not charge me for the effort.

When we had this house built, there was an "allowance" for the appliances. We got the stove and the refrigerator, but Hubby didn't think there was any point in spending money on a dishwasher.

He's been washing the dishes ever since.
