The Old Folks Home

Poodle-lini and poodi-flower? I didn't know either was in season already.

In season like in heat??

Well, someone woke up this AM to a nice dry, slight breezey day and forgot he is not that young buck stud of old. Been outside all day working in the yards, hauling down tree branches, cleaning coops, repairing part of the tin roof that the winds damaged and just being busy all day long.
Got alot done but so much more to do to get ready for Spring. Even made a fast trip to Southern States to pick up some stuff, visited the biddies, talked to the owner about selling him some of my spare Roos, and did not get any. So that was a break, yay~!!~!! Well now it has caught up with me. ****!!! I just want to sit in my comfy chair and die...

But as My dear departed Mom use to say. "there is no rest for the wicked".

Tomorrow is another day. I just hope the person who wakes up tomorrow is smarter than the one today....

On a side note...
It did feel good to get a full day in outside......

I can't believe I set 60 eggs today for the Easter Hatch A Long today!

The most I've hatched at once..ever in all the years I've been hatching. I know they won't all hatch, but what if I have a great hatch..even 50% with shipped eggs..30 babies!

My boys' youth group at church were having a retreat this weekend. They started with a 36 hour fast, and built houses out of cardboard to feel what it is like to be homeless. They spent the night in their houses and then went door to door collecting food for the homeless shelter. At 6:00pm, they broke fast with a huge meal at the church. I went to collect sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and three tired boys. My youngest opened the back of the van and then came around to the front seat where I was waiting. With a level stare he asked, "Momma........why is there a chicken in the back of the car?"

Good news and bad news........

Good news is -- I have a broody to help with the hatch!
Bad news -- She nested in the luggage area in the back of the van.

I posted this in the Easter hatch thread also, so if you have seen it, sorry!

Okay, Wisher, that made me laugh. It's funny on so many levels.

Five minutes later and I'm still chuckling. Sorry. I think I'll go watch Sparkle sit on her chicks. That interlude should temper the giggles with some "awww" leveling.

Y'know, Wisher, at my house, we have a saying,"if the question starts with 'why,' don't bother asking, 'cause you probably don't wanna know." I guess your son hasn't run into enough of those "why" questions yet, has he?

Tick, somehow I am hearing Toby Keith here, "I'm Not as Good as I Once Was," particularly the line that goes, "Now my body says, "You can't do this boy" but my pride says, "Oh yes you can."

Hope you don't wind up payin' for it too much.

Linda -- Were you thinking about the ride to church the hen had just endured and the egg that had obviously rolled away from her?  Don't you wonder what she was thinking......

Yes! I had to go watch Sparkle, holding tight to her chicks in her immobile brooder bin nest, just to stop thinking about it. And there you go starting me up again!!

And...and...the sudden thought I might someday have a hen go broody in my Toyota RAV4 and not notice it right away. Y'all may have noticed I don't get out much.....OMG ... I could get to the feed store with a whole flock 'o chicks and one ticked off hen providing proof of the necessity!
