The Old Folks Home

ok peeps, I got a question of non importance.

I have been dealing with chicken now 5 years.
My Buffs are starting to lay, they are on the small size due to first eggs are always small, but this morning as I gathered the first set of eggs I found this one.....

This is the smallest first egg I have ever gotten. The other one is from a young buff who has been laying for a couple of days. Just over an inch. Most new eggs I have gotten start at almost 2 inches.
Now maybe so bird laid it but I don't think those chickens would allow it...

Ok ***** time.....

Ok, adding pictures to posts is not easy. sheesh, tried to load on above post and got nothing. had to load to profile to get it here. Why offer an upload area if it will not take it without loading to profile first???

Ok, back to normal. Cold day, another cold snap is coming. Not as bad as the mid west and up north but good enough to slow down planting outside.
sheesh....

And Guys or ladies, I am trying to be good and that is not easy......
Not for me, never has been....

now go enjoy whatever the day brings.....

Tick,
That's a "normal" abberation of egg laying and called a "fart" or "wind" or "fairy" egg. It's when the reproductive system shoots off white +/- yolk but not the normal amount. The reproductive tract takes it and processes it like a normal egg. When you open it you'll usually find a small amount of white and a tiny dot of yolk. They're edible, not hatchable and not alarming, at all.
Some people blow them out and decorate them, too.

I give them to my neighbors kid. He loves to play with them.

:)

I will go with a "fairy" egg. I do have a Gnome garden which Fairies do hang around, so maybe they left me a surprise. maybe it's a golden little egg inside. As for the blowing, I will leave that to the missus. (hey, Wisher, she can and does blow out eggs, so watch your mind).

Not alot doing today due to the wind and colder air. Even my girls have slowed down on the eggs so far. Out of the 19 teens the 9 oldest, 4 are now starting to lay, counting the "fairy" egg. The younger 10 should start up next month.... The older girls are about half their normal laying today, maybe the wind, or just starting later than normal..... They want to warmer weather to stay, not this warm and cold every other day stuff we've been getting....

Well, back outside, my list is calling me.........

I will get home around 3:30 but I have to run back out again. Sid has to go in for his last set of puppy shots today.
