This is my My Coon mix--not so much of a killer....I use small hav a hart type traps for rats then just shoot them in the morning. I just bait it with whatever they are eating. Usually chicken food.
My weasel killer. Inthe last year William has killed 3 weasels as have I. Yup combined we killed 6 weasels in a year.
in this photo William was 9. He is a Maine Coon mix. He was 10 on Easter
William was interested in chicks when I had my 1st ever broody a number of years ago. William weighs 15 lbs. That 3.5 lb broody Sumatra hen scared the poop out of William. He hasn't wanted to mess with a chicken again. This is the same cat I watch pounce on a ruffed grouse once. He didn't kill it, but he did have it down for a few seconds.my two cats have brought us squirrels and birds but leave the chickens alone.
Maybe you need to put it on something and bait it. Hope the bug and leaf didn't suffer or put up much of a struggle. heheI caught a bug and a leaf on my big, bad glue trap.

Thank you for sharing the 'big-trap' saga ... I was laughing so much my hubby commented "Your in chookie-chat aren't you?" No! Not MeSqueeky was lucky the traps were still in their packaging or he would have had a nice Brazilian Wax for his heiny.
I'm going to put it out tonight and hope for the best. It didn't come with a lot of directions... I wonder if I'm supposed to bait it in the middle or just hope he runs over it on his way to scavenge...
