Honey Bunches of Oats? Do you always leave that out there? Just wondering cause I figured it was going for the feed. What the heck do you feed your animals? LOL

I have 3 kits thawing out, but momma is acting weird and there was signs that there HAD BEEN a 4th kit. There was no straw in the box or even in the cage for that matter. One kit on wire and 2 in the box and almost as cold as the one on wire. I thought 2 were dying on me, but they started moving while I had them all 3 in my hands. I heated up a sock with beans in it and I think I better go do it again. I put the kits next to it and the momma jumped in and laid on it. She wasn't feeling cold at all, but I guess it felt cozy. OMG!! She just had another one!!!! Gotta go heat the sock. BRB

How is it that there are socks all over the place until you need one. this thing is like ankle high. Good thing these are tiny kits. This whole night is killing me. I was calm with the hatch, although I'm getting stressed out now, but I have a hard time getting my rabbits to breed like rabbits, so when I finally get some, I'd like to know they'll live. They're tiny and hairless and they were sooo cold. I don't know if after all my handling that she'll take care of them. She's raised kits before, but IDK...She always has them warm and fed and not on wire or felt to die. Finding remenants?? OK she's gotten rid of a few, but not ones that otherwise are very healthy looking.

Sounds like your doing fine.If she's done this before I'd keep her calm and let her handle it.Disturbing /helping to much can have bad results to. Good luck.

I don't think one for sure is going to make it, so hopefully the other 3 will. Now to go stress over the tiny pip that isn't getting anywhere and worry that I'll have another shrink wrapped chick like the first one tonight. THEN............I'm going to lay down and just hope I wake up with something positive in the morning.

This is Sophie Anna Phatpants. She hunts nothing but food in her bowl and empty laps.

I also heard that she stalks the wild and vicious trash can every now and again.

William was interested in chicks when I had my 1st ever broody a number of years ago. William weighs 15 lbs. That 3.5 lb broody Sumatra hen scared the poop out of William. He hasn't wanted to mess with a chicken again. This is the same cat I watch pounce on a ruffed grouse once. He didn't kill it, but he did have it down for a few seconds.

I hadtwo Brahmas in the house in a cage theother day scared the crap outta my dog she wouldn't get out of my lap it was hilarious

You are right, it is going after the feed the ducks spill. I usually have a chicken clean up crew that get out of the chicken run daily and take care of it, but sometimes they don't for some reason and the rat comes as second string clean up. I added the Honey Bunches of Oats on the suggestion of a friend who has her PhD and works in a lab on rats all day and has for years. She says they go ape for Fruit Loops (it's a reward in some of their studies) and I told her we don't have Fruit Loops in this house, but I have Honey Bunches of Oats or Raisin Bran Crunch. She told me to go with the Honey Bunches of Oats to attract the rat.

It didn't work. I should have put the game cam out last night so I could at least see the little jerk bypassing the trap.

Oh yes, the wild and vicious trash. She also will take chicken off the counter and gets into the cabinets and tears her treat bags open... and she loves beef jerky. BF has found his plastic jerky packs ripped open and empty on the floor some mornings.

The cat tale I remember is when I lived in a big farm house with lots of windows and doors in the front room. Not a lot of wall space. I had an aquarium and a cat. In the tank was an exotic cat fish with front fins that stuck out stiff. One day I heard a rucus in the room and went to check it out. Well, the cat was on top of the curtains with huge amounts of foam coming out of his mouth and the room looking like he had done a few high speed laps around it at top of window height. The fish was on the floor squacking loudly. After I got the fish back in the tank and made sure it was ok and the cat off the top of the window and checked over to make sure he was also ok, I had a good laugh. That cat never went fishing in an aquarium again. Getting "finned" in the mouth by a cat fish is not so fun from a cats point of view.
