Wolftracks sorry I came in so late re: your locked out of house drama. I've had things like that happen to me but, I cannot take heat above high 70's, so I know they would have found me slumped over by the side of the road. It's funny but, when you really need it none of the neighbors or friends EVER see you and offer a ride. Yah real funny like when it's a ^%$&$## downpour and people just wave to me because I love to walk. Not during thunder and lightning strokes People!!
Anyway in my long ago 20's when I had no hips at all- I used to shimmy thru the dog door to get back in the house. Had to crawl on hands and knees thru gravel dog run- ouch & icky. I can tell you the dogs were very surprised to see me. Those were little dog doors for Cocker spaniels and boy it hurt!! But I was so proud of myself to find a way inside. Well that was ages ago, the dogs are long gone, the doors are all bricked over, and I have 'puffed up" so much I couldn't squeeze thru a barn door. Oh yes,I bought several sets of keys and usually carry three with me whenever I leave the house. I get paranoid about it and after reading of your situation - even more so.
