You know, if I had ever found anyone in possession that had a legitimate need for the benefits/effects of marijuana, I would not charge them. The issue I have with it is that THAT has never happened to me personally. I have, however, arrested many seemingly healthy people that are self medicating that claiming they have a medical need. I think they just want to smoke dope. I would not deny a terminal patient any drug that made them happy or facilitated improvement in health or comfort, legal or not. BUT - I would not want it to be easy for anyone to gain legal access to illegal drugs by manipulating the system.
It's like I've always said about theives. If they get caught stealing bread, cereal, diapers, and milk to feed their families, I would pay for it myself and send them on their way. That never happened in all my 25 years of my job. Instead, they stole beer and cigarettes and prime cut meats to grill out, things that I often can't afford to feed my own family on two full time incomes.
best herbal remedy for cancer patients is herb. Cannabis is an amazing appetite stimulant. Its a shame we are so prudish as to put barriers in the way of people that could really benefit from it.
On local news several towns have put a hold on the availabity of cannabis until further regulatory measures can be put in place; other wise Massachusetts voters decided last fall to make cannabis available for medical use.

When my eggs are stolen from by cooler, I tell myself, repeatedly, maybe that person really truly needed to feed the family. Then last week someone helped themselves to the 1 gal of frozen water and left an empty coke can and 3 doz eggs to heat up in th 95 degree weather. Hope they enjoyed the water-- it was laced with vinegar to prevent spoiling.
THen all this is put into perspective when DH is dealing with a body found in one of his parks, 1/4 mile from his office. Very sad, tragic actually. Parents reported the 24 yr old Bently grad missing only hrs after video recorded her going to ATM after ATM . . . another bright light brutally killed. Makes my eggs not seem so important.
Bless you Wisher for the work you do, because I could not, not in a million years.

I'm older than your mom and I won't eat a lot of stuff either. Banana pudding maybe, but I'd have a fit on the wafers. LOL If she's always cooked, it's hard to be somewhere where you have no control over your food.
Yes, I'm picky. I don't like cake and ice cream at the same time. If they show up touching, it turns my stomach. I'll drink milk when I eat cookies, but never dunk. My brother pretty much turned me away from that when I was young. LOL I can eat most pies ala mode now, but never could when I was younger
Maybe some casseroles that are easy to eat. Broccoli soups, some type of souffle, and if she likes eggs, maybe custard. I am a cottage cheese freak. I like lots of fruits with it, but my favorite has always been pineapple. Make her things that look pleasant and that usually helps with getting someone to eat. Presentation is everything! You can put stuff in small containers and try to make it look decent and that might help/
BTW, I did 4 short years a a vegetarian in my 20s. I did it because I had to be at a set weight. I feel much better now with eating what I want. If I order prime rib, I go from one direction to the other. End cut or as rare as I can get it. Walk that sucker out and have him jump on my plate, then know the hooves off him.
I think it is the Yankee in her. LOL! She hates to try new stuff but is just going to have to deal with it when I am down. Thanks for the suggestions. She hates not being able to clean or cook. I think it is actually making her more depressed.
It would be funny to take a couple of them to a taxidermist and have them to pose them as if they were sitting at a poker table with a couple of beers and a deck of cards. You know, sort of like they are planning their next crime of terrorizing farmers.
yup, no cell phones in the day when mac and I got 5 rats in less than a minute! Great ratter that dog. 5 is a pile.

@ Chicken-- look for the book on eating while going thru cancer treatment. Sorry I can't remember the book. A great read. Fairly recent publication. You might find it useful. WIll look for the title and send you a pm if I can find it.
I have heard a lot about juicing wheat grass and the benefits for cancer patients. I have had it straight as a shot and it tastes like what grass smells like, if that makes sense. If you add it to a smoothie you cannot taste it at all. I also had a friend who use to give her sister sour lemon candy when she was going through treatment. Apparently there is a metallic taste from the chemo treatments which makes eating unappetizing, I believe that is what she said, anyway the sour lemon candy apparently help tame the metallic taste and helped her eat. I wish you and your family the best.
The metal taste is true. Mom says it is like when you taste a battery to see if it is still good and you get that taste, that is what it is. We have a set of taste buds that is called umami that are just designed to taste alkaloid or metal tastes. Chemo enhances just those taste buds.

Thank you for your service Wisher!!! I think that we should limit prescriptions for medical grade cannabis to terminally ill patients, People with diseases that are not curable, fibromayalgia patients. I do think that we need to have better laws in place as to who gets a prescription.

Aww poor kid, and family. And my heart goes out to all involved. I could not be a cop or detective because I want to help people that have a fighting chance which is why I am going to school to be a nurse. It breaks my heart everyday to see the countless amount of young people lost by drugs, fighting, murder. It is devastating. It is sad that our country has turned into a place of murder.
Arielle:: Where do you keep your eggs? Who could possibly be getting them? Are they sneaking onto your property to get them? Do you have a guard dog? I know my dog would have ripped that dude a new one. I would be absolutely fine with someone coming to my front door and saying" can we please have some eggs, food, milk, blankets, etc, for my family" I would ABSOLUTELY hand over the shirt off of my back. But STEALING is a sin. I will not put up with anyone stealing. Alot of people these days thing that they need to steal to get anything when really all they have to do is ask. And if they are really in need they will get what they need.
I use the honor system and keep the eggs in a cooler near the road-- with a 1000 foot driveway, completely out of sight. I'm looking into going to a farmers market but that only runs a few months of the year. I only have a few customers I deliver to. Most don't want delivery because they don't want to commit. BOy do I understand now how important the relation ship is between farmers and consumers, and hence the CSA is born.
Yes my rotties would have allerted me if they were close to the house.
Oh ok. I was thinking someone was coming up into your yard. I would have flipped! LOL! How old are your rotties? I absolutely love that breed. Right now I have 5yr old MOJO He is a white German Shepherd and 80lbs of lean, mean, licking machine. But noone has to know that. lol.

It's been my experience that folks who have a legimate need to self-medicate with cannabis aren't out there driving around or otherwise out in public under the influence. Those who are, well, like Wisher, I think they just wanna get high.
