The Old Folks Home

so I have a question. I went to pet one of my sweet hens that is now laying and she squated so I pet her, she got up ruffled her feathers and my Rooster seen that came over and pecked the FIRE out of me!?!?!?!  Why? Does he think i am taking his woman? Will he always be this mean, Should I think about dinner? Oh and on the math subject, as of right now I can figure out a prescription dosage and that is it!! LOL

I normally slap them across the head. The point is like training dogs to be tha alpha bird.

my meat grinder and sausage stuffer are perfect for birds like randy.

Down here we would make chicken and dumplings with him.

I can't wait to try this!! How long a cure before eating it? Is meant to be eaten as a fresh sausage or an aged one?

I grew up on a sausage that was only boiled so casing was required. WOuld not be the same if it was fried or made free form.

The recipe does not look like a cured sausage recipe. If it is indeed a fresh sausage recipe, you can eat it as soon as you want to. When I make sausage, I often fry a bit up right away to see if I need to adjust the spices.

OK I need the cumulative knowledge of the mature folks of this thread------

I am desperate for testosterone replacement. THis has no OTC replacement option that is readily available. THough I have been feeling desperate enough to look at my roosters and wonder if parts of their anatomy could be emulsified for use. THen I realized I need to know if the testosterone is water soluable or oil soluable to know which fraction to use, and then I started to feel like a witch doctor!!! ANd I now totally understand the men of the world wanting rhino horn and shark something or other . . . . .

Little did I know that we women also have testosterone and when organs malfunction . .well . . .I'm going to peices while the OB/GYN and insurance company hash this out. NO compounding is the insurance company's new policy . . . . and the compounding company I use( and a couple others) are suing the insurance company. WHat a mess. ANd the customers/patients are caught in the middle.

If anyone has a suggestion, please feel free to PM me.

Luckily this is a thread where we can talk about anything we want to. Many of the testosterone pre cursers (long Jack and etc.) are dangerous to use.

I read an article recently that said that there are new prescription hormones that are very safe and effective. Talk to your doctor about the new options. If your current doctor does not know about the new replacement hormones, find one that works with a teaching hospital. There should be a replacement for you that does not have to be compounded.

Now you have two choices for the old birds: grinding or stewing. It'd stew the showgirl, then pick the meat and chop the larger peices and add some wild rice and a few herbs.
its fresh sausage but i would ref it for a few hours to let the herbs and spices permeate.

Quote: I was approaching this with that same vision-- only BOTH the OB/GYN staff and the pharmacist are saying the compounded gives me the correct amts for ME for all 3 replacement hormones. None like that I am resorting to flax and black cohosh ( not to be confused with other illegal drugs) because the dosing is not as consistent.

THe other aspect is I cannot utilize precursors. At all.

I have discovered how much time away from BYC I suffer, now that I have some of my flock at their new location on "Thistle Dew Ranch" property. It's not all that time-consuming to check on feed, water, security - but I do have to commune with both flocks, k'now! Everybody over there is a youngster, nowhere near as accustomed to my presence as the older members of the flock staying here. (Seniority has its rights.) It takes time to build rapport. BOSS helps. ;)

There are approximately ten more birds HERE to move over, plus six cockerels temporarily housed with HHandbasket's flock. Mine are tree and/or rafter roosting youngsters which I cannot reach without assistance. So their relocation has been delayed until I can schedule some friends taller than me to capture 'em.

Then there are these two spoiled ladies.

I hope you can figure out a reasonable way to get the compounding paid for. Can you get your insurance company to give you an exception.
