The Old Folks Home

I love this photo. And I take back what I said about having a long driveway. I don't even see where yours ends. If I was Bob I would cry.

And then buy a truck with a plow on it.

LMAO

Where he is, there's a Juniper to his right and a bit ahead of him, that's the halfway point to the road. Near the top and to the left is a much larger Juniper, that's just inside the fence line. I think the fence is about 10 feet from the road. I haven't measured anything out there for some years, but it's no more than 20 feet from the road.

It's funny, to me anyway, how he can think of things ahead of time that later I realize he's right about. When we were putting up the house he was fanatical about getting a culvert in right where that midway Juniper is, because if we ever got a big rain, that's where it would flood. I secretly rolled my eyes a dozen times while we worked that one out. We hadn't been here a month and got a "toad strangler" that washed hundreds of dollars' worth of gravel off the driveway and made it almost impassible. If we hadn't installed the culvert and put down all that gravel, the driveway would have been gone. It darned near was, we had to call a contractor who had worked on the driveway to come back and repair it before any more rain fell, and luckily he was able to get here the same day and fix the damage before it could get any worse.

Oz half a winter only gives you a taste of the fun. You need to either visit SCG in Maine or one of us in Utah or someone else living in a cold snowy state for the full winter to truly appreciate it

I grew up between Maine and Mass, after leaving NE, I spent a year in Korea the next year in WA. Both places have cold and snowy winters although I have to admit, WA was beautiful. After that I wound up in AZ for years and did a three year stint in FL in the middle of the years we lived in AZ. I became a cold wuss after those years. Utah is a very beautiful state too but the winters are just too long for me. We got "lucky" this year and had true fall weather through November (with a couple of snow storms where the snow didn't stick). December brought the winter weather. Two fairly good sized snow storms last week and temps no more than 20 for over a week. OK I am now ready for spring. BTW DH grew up in CA and never had to deal with winter snows. Two times shoveling the first full winter we lived here and I had a Ranger with a plow on the front.

These are such beautiful pictures, love Macaws. I had exotics a long time ago, and I often miss them.

That was a breeding center I worked at. They raise them for rerelease into the wild.
They had over 100 each of great greens and scarlets.
i am tired just reading the posts. I lived in PA near Allegheny Nat Park for half a winter.

Hats off to the millions of you who put up with that white s**t day in day out

My house.

Love that stone foundation, what a nice, solid looking home - complete with statuary, very nice! Is that now, with all that snow?

I was first tempted to ask which little green house you live in, as surely the large brick building was for the chickens LOL

Forecast for today is periods of rain, high in the 60's, low in the 50's.Baby

, the mini's, and I have a Christmas parade this evening; I'm praying the weather cooperates.

Never mind that it wouldn't be much fun to go wandering around the streets of Burgaw in the rain; I can't imagine that many folks would show up to watch a parade in the rain, and that's really the point of a parade, isn't it?

Gee, we are a yakky bunch, aren't we?
