Have I told you lately that I really enjoy your humor SCG?
Awww, thanks.
We have been upgraded to 12 to 15 inches of snow, now, plus wind making blizzard conditions tonight into tomorrow likely.

I too check that shells are hard, if all is good there, I cull to the stew pot. One of my favs went that route, she laid a beuteous olive green egg, but problem was solved: the broken eggs issue stopped. It happened at a time when I needed every egg possible for egg customers. In the future I will have a solitary pen to toss her into instead of into the stew pot. sigh.
Oh dear..I chuckled out loud with the mustard idea..does that say anything about me. Won't eat them, but will torture them for a few min. with the taste of mustard!Culling is a guaranteed fix, the others are iffy.
I broke mine with ceramic eggs and collecting as often as I could for a month. The offending hen would peck the ceramic eggs and have no luck so eventually gave up. She still gave half hearted attempts for another six months as I would get eggs with perfect beak tip sized hole in them.
I have heard of people blowing egg shells and filling them with yellow mustard.
The best way is to build roll away nest boxes, but that is alot of trouble and won't help if you want broodies.
