The Old Folks Home

OK... someone, someone is not doing the Spring Dance correctly. It is negative 30 here. We are having a blizzard.

Let's regroup, people.

I'm off to go put on my union suit and climb into my pre-heated bed. This is ridiculous.

At least I have power. For now.

It all went here!

We are having so much Spring that towns covered by Lakes are being uncovered--Lowest water levels since 1976.....

I'm dancing as fast as I can, SCG, but I don't think I've got the steps right. If the weather we've been getting is any indication, I must have been doing a rain dance. The choreography is getting pretty complicated with all those puddles.

Me tooooo! I can hardly get to the coop for the new pond in the front yard

And it is not -30 here but it is colder than it has been in many years here! UGH I am ready for spring to SCG!!!!

It's warmed up to negative 18. I guess I can't complain. Still snowing but that should be over, soon, too. Our wind chill warning is going to expire at 1300 today. Feels like -36 out there.

The ducks are still very interested in water, but they're having a hard time physically getting to the water due to the cold. They'll walk a few feet and then just collapse and put their feet under their wings to warm them up, and then repeat the process. I've never seen them do that before. They'd better get to their tub quickly or it will be frozen by the time they show up.

And sorry, Wisher. Hope you had a good time, though.

I cannot imagine! I would be a Popsicle very quickly with temps like that!

We're getting the coldest temps we've had in 20 years in the next few days. Also 2 heavy snows coming on top of what we already have. No birds ventured outside yesterday.
I have to go get a couple bales of straw to spread over the top of it.

Yup, I just watched the weather channel and looks like you'll be hit hard again in a few days. You'll be previewing our weather for us! There's talk that we may be above freezing when the next storm rolls through here - that would be an interesting twist. Better temperatures would give me a chance to remove all the poosickles from the coop and maybe clean it out before the next round of grossly subfreezing temperatures rolls through.

Here on the West cost that is what happens with storms that come in. The Lows go up but the highs come down a bit with the rain. No Rain here since early November. We have 2.5 inches of rain since July now. Normal is over 5. Remember, it does not rain for 6 months here so we are extremely dry.

I hope all of you with the extreme weather are Safe through all of it!
