The weather has stunk this winter in the mid-Atlantic but we get like this occasionally. I have lived here since birth. I remember a year when it seemed every Wednesday we could expect an ice storm like clockwork. The strain on the power grid was so bad the electric company was conducting rolling blackouts. We would be at work and all of the sudden your computer cut off and all of the lights in the building. It was not so bad if you were in a section with outside light but I worked in the belly of the beast and you had to feel the walls to get to the door to see light. These would last 30 - 60 minutes and the building would get so cold so fast. So far that has not happened this year despite the weather. My DH and I had always wanted to relocate south.....I am a fair weather gal. Though I knew it would get cold in SC, 2014 has started off rather shocking.
Eight more weeks and counting til spring . . . or at least the winter thaw.
Everything is muddy. I'm miserable, the chickens are miserable and Daisy (my dane) keeps trying to get closer to the wood stove. 
TSF!!! Just think, then you get to the airport....the worst half of the trip is over! Then you can go home!!
