The Old Folks Home

Well it's 5:44 pm and the chicks that pipped this afternoon have not hatched yet. In fact I don't see them moving any more? The baby that was out kept pecking at the hole in the shells on the other two that were trying to hatch. Do you suppose it killed the other two? One has not pipped or anything so far.

Step away from the bator!

Leave them alone unless you see amber goo coming out of the pip or if you see the membrane turning brown. The chicks are just waiting until 2 in the morning to hatch--so that they can wake you up.

I expect to see pictures of them tomorrow.

Hatch Babies hatch!

LOL Ron, don't sugar coat it, tell us how you really feel! :) You are the best, your nickname of Hatching God is apt!

LOL, I wanted to post the slap smiley but figured it would be too much.

I was just distracted--I have a Basque hen hanging outside the sliding glass door....I may have to give her a treat. (it it 6:44 and I have the light on)

Also, I was having a bit since Bator is one of the terms not to be used in some chicken circles. I really hope
Chickadoodle has a great hatch!

finally laying has picked up enough to hang the sign. My mom made it and the "made fresh daily" is a little joke we share in the winter when she is reluctant to take all the eggs I have.

Ok everyone, I am not touching the bator! But it has been over 12 hours and still no zip. The chicks are still not moving in the shells this morning. But I am not going to touch it!
