The Old Folks Home

Quote: I won't get retirement at this point-- I stayed home to raise my kids well ( no offense to those that want or need to work) -- DH and I felt that we could do a better job of raising the kids and be willing to have less if I stayed home-- Little did I realize the huge economic price: no immediate income, no credit for the time home, poor job opportunities when I can jump back in. Most stay at home moms I know are well educated women that work for minimum wage, at part time jobs. Financially I wish I had a do-over option. lol

But then I would have missed out on some of the best people I have ever met . . . . .

We still laugh about a friend's father. In the 50s and 60s they had a Visiting Nurse tha would sometimes show up and check on employees to see ahy they called in sick. My friend's dad had called in and was out mowing the grass when the Visiting Nurse showed up and asked if he was Mr. Nelson. Of course he had to think fast and he said he was a neighbor who was cutting the grass because Mr. Nelson was sick and had gone to the Dr.

How does donating benefit you-- don't you loose it?? Or is someone kind enough to donate it back??

There's no limit on sick leave at my work, just annual. I have about 3 months of sick leave right now. I'm saving it up to have my mental breakdown paid. I'm thinking I'm going to need 6 months.

As far as donation goes, it doesn't benefit me at all. You can donate it with your name on it so that people know you were nice, but I just do it anonymously and usually to people that I know on the donation list.

I've finished stippling!!! That was ridiculously tedious and hard on my hands. BF wants to go out now, so I'm going to swing by the fabric store and get some binding material and then hopefully finish it tonight. I'm tired of looking at it. I do really like the stippling look on the quilt, but I've got to figure out a better way to do it so that I have use of my upper body afterwards. Doing it in 2 days isn't going to cut it for me again, and leaving it on the sewing machine during breaks doesn't work well either, the cats thought it was their own personal bed so then I had to cover it in bedsheets while I took a break. That was just a few hour break, I figure if I'm at work they'd figure out how to "dig" under the bedsheets to lay on their "bed."

What is a rattlehead?

A Megadeth fan.

Wow, TSF9, that really shook up my mental picture of you!

I like to think of the way we see each other in our minds, having only the info from online communications to use as a guide. We talked about this one time before, it may have been on the CdM thread. Sometimes we see pics of someone so we know what they look like, and sometimes it is all up to imagination. It is like reading a book and imagining the characters. I am often distracted while watching a movie if I read the book and had a drastically different mental picture of the character(s.) (I KNOW that will happen when the FSG movie comes out, I already know what Christian looks like! None of the actors can compare!)

It still needs to be trimmed (the dark blue layer is the last official layer), squared and bound. I have purchased the binding and will get to trimming as soon as my fingers work a little better.
