The Old Folks Home

ChickenCanoe, I did think it was interesting that women were more likely to eat something that fell on the floor but also most likely to follow the 5 second rule. I will admit that I have eaten items that fell on the floor but there are a few more stipulations for me than just the 5 second rule. That is just the last go/no go rule. If the floor looks dirty, no matter how little time the item was on the floor I will not eat it (unless the item was still sealed in a wrapper). If the item is "wet" I am not very likely to eat it if it fell on the floor no matter how little time. If the floor is wet, I probably won't eat the item. If the item is in a wrapper, I will unwrap it and eat it unless the floor was wet and now the wrapper looks dirty.
Oh no!!!! The floor is ....dirty!!! Chicken poo.....still manages to get into the clean house.

And I even take the poo shoes off on the porch, OUTSIDE of the kitchen. Eww.....ewww.....EWW!!!
Nope. No 5 second rule for this house. If it is even slightly wet/moist foods....all food items who land on floor are designated "jumpers'...and go directly into the chicken treat container. Eee gads.

Anyways...I learned that "floor is contaminated".... haha....working in a hospital fixed that. But tell me this...how can health care workers deal with the nastiest situations.....

.....and then go directly to lunch break and eat!???

Guilty as charged.

Speaking of horse shows (weren't we?

) I have to say I am so proud of how well my horse is doing at her first A rated show. She came in 5th in her first class out of a field of almost 50 horses (not too shabby) and got her first blue ribbon today. Allie has a ton of talent but I also give a ton of credit to the highly skilled young lady riding her. Cammi has been training Allie in jumping for less than a year and has brought her a long way already.
Look at the legs on that girl!! Love how she is listening to the rider--ALlie is all business!

Quote: Yucky----- anything the touches the floor we don't eat--- we don't use a fork either-- if it touches the table or the floor we toss it or wash it. THanks to cats that walk on the table , even when we aren't looking.

dsqard- anything that falls on the floor is rejected here. Flatware, dishes, towels, and definitely food. Chickens have changed the whole "Laws of the Kitchen" concept!

Cat, stays outside mostly. No kitty on table tops, counter tops, bedrooms.

Ok, here's one that is not.. a nice thought for you, but, I worked in the Restaurant business for years. I won't tell you what/how most places consider the 5 second rule before they slap it back onto the grill. Bite something a little crunchy there..on that steak? Uh huh! :/ Guess they figure if it's cooked....
