This made me cry.......
I'm sorry.

Greetings from 30,000 feet over Tokyo. Xanax did wonders 4 hours to go
You're almost there.

Thank you for sharing.

My grandpa was also WWII and my sister was Navy.

My dad and his brothers worked the family truck farm that was deemed important for the war effort so weren't drafted. When things got tight they talked about bringing one boy from each farm family in. I remember my mom telling me about she and my aunt arguing over which of my aunt's brothers should serve. My paternal grandfather was a stow away coming to America from Germany around 1870 and never served. All my uncles, on my mother's side served in WW II. Other than them, I'm the only one in my family with military service.

My dad served and I think one of my uncles (his brother) served in the Army. Neither saw any combat. It was after Korea but before Vietnam. I served for ten years and DS is in the Army now stationed at Ft. Huachuca.
Here are some shots I got last night at sunset over the Great Salt Lake.

I hope everyone is getting to do something fun today.

The picture I have of me like that shows sweat pouring down my face. We just got back from a long run with full packs, they put us in one of our dress uniforms and snapped away. It was early September in MO. Those are usually basic training photos.

Glad you have that photo. It's a great keepsake. I see he already received his marksmanship medal so FYI, the picture was later in basic training.

Crazy but true - my father was a Chaplain in the Army. As a non-combatant, he could get someone else to take the marksmanship test for him, and he did. The guy did so well, he qualified for the marksmanship medal.
