The Old Folks Home

I've been told I have MS. It is mild. Thank goodness. I just say treat the symptoms. How is your dad ron? Is he walking around ok? Have his good days, bad days I suppose.

Dad was diagnosed with MS in 1968. He had the bad kind--attacks and the loss of something to use and then remission. in the 80s he lost the ability to walk and was Wheel Chair bound. In the mid 90s he lost Bladder control and had a catheter and a home care nurse. He passed in 2002 from congestive heart failure.

The treatment is much better now. Dad was one of the early cases to be called MS and they did things wrong, namely telling them not to tire themselves out so now exercise--that leads to muscle wasting and often congestive heart failure.

There is a lot of hope for you!

My parents never let us in the kitchen while they were cooking (who want's 5 kids under foot while trying to cook) so we never learned to cook till we left home.

I called my older sister to ask her how to make gravy and she said she went to a yard sale and bought a blender to get the lumps out. That's how we made gravy!

My daughters watched me cook from the Gerry Carrier....

Quote: I wish we had grown up on country cooking. My dads family is from AL. and moved to OK. and Dad moved to Calif. and My mom moved from MN. to Calif. and went to work for my dad and they married. But every night they would fight about dinner they had to finally agree that they would take turns cooking and we at so weird it was crazy. But Dad was the better cook! His fried chicken was to die for till mom told us it was Mr. Andersons bunnies that we played wtih!

Quote: That sounds amazing. It's interesting how much the typical breakfast varies from country to country. The French and other Middle-Europeans have their pastries, Brits have the English breakfast, and in Finland breakfast is usually sandwiches, with some ham, cheese and veggies on top. Rye bread is pretty common (the real kind made with mainly rye), and sometimes perhaps a boiled egg. Kids eat cereal, and muesli is pretty popular too. And porridge, usually made with oatmeal.
That is different what is porridge? I have heard of it and never knew what it was. My DH is a true southern gentleman and he likes a big southern breakfast on the weekends biscuits and sausage or bacon, eggs, grits or hash brown's or fried potatoes with onions and bell peppers. I have introduced him to some Calif. style cooking and some he likes and some he don't. I do not like a big greasy breakfast so I fix what he want's and then later I eat some toast and fruit or cereal. :)

I pressed "QUOTE" but it didn't. I wanted to comment about "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly." I cannot agree that it is a kids movie. We watched it when my son was maybe 8 years old. The next day, maybe the day after that, my brother in law was over and he caught my son standing on a box in the garage with a rope tied to a rafter and just placing a noose around his own neck. I cannot image my life without him and from then on, we didn't watch anything similar. Having a movie with a man repeatedly surviving a hanging is very very bad for a child to watch.

I cannot even imagine finding one of mine trying something like that! Wow someone was watching over your son that day! Thank God! I have never heard of anything like that from an old western how scary.

I dug out my camera again today.

And bonus pic from phone:

"But I want to eat some chicken food. Why not?"
Your birds are beautiful and what great pics you take! And your dog is very pretty.

My puppy runs around eating chicken food and chicken and cow poo! I have no idea why, it drives me crazy, I tell her to quit and she just keeps on!

Yes, it was very unsettling. We also have the movie "The Deer Hunter" and my son is getting ready to turn 19. He has still never seen that one!

I wouldn't say "someone" is watching over my son. I have to give God the glory. We are a Christian family and I know who was watching over him. To God be the glory forever!
