Wow. @Alaskan - I get to have your weather without your prices

but then I don't get your amazing views and no volcanoes!!!

Do you realize that I just googled the above prices??? How can that be on the internet?

Why wouldn't they be on the internet? For some reason, merchants used to think that displaying the price lessens interest in it. I have found the opposite to be true. If one store shows the price for something, and the other doesn't, I'll go ti the store that does if I think the price is right. Hiding the price just means people won't even bother finding out what it costs.

@vehve

So...it looks like Homer, Ak is about the same prices, except for perishables which are maybe more expensive.

And, the places that are off of the road system in Alaska are more expensive (Nome and Bethel).

Oh, a loaf of bread is about $5 for good stuff. (Ranges from 4.30 to 6.99)

Apples aren't very expensive here since they travel well. But things like corn are usually over one dollar each.

Decent bread is about 3-4 euros for a loaf weighing maybe a bit less than a pound. In the summer, we get cheap fruit, but come winter, the prices go up.

Gas is $3.12/gallon. Large watermelons are $2.50. Corn is 4 ears for $1. Black angus ribeye steak is $3.99/lb. Sirloin $2.99. Tomatos $7 for a 5gallon bucket full. Whole fryer chickens $.99/lb

Hashish cost about 10 euros per gram when I was a teenager. Last I heard, it was about 20, so about 750 bucks per ounce. I don't know if you can get buds nowadays, but when I was a kid, the crappy stuff was all that was sold. Or so I've heard. Errm. You know.
the bho is expensive here too
