The Old Folks Home

Outside, as in camping in the yard, or as in outside the county, state, or country?

Outside, as in outside Alaska, as in LEAVING the state! :th

Any place specific you intend to go to, or just walk along the border on the Canadian side?

Man, that made me laugh hard

... I would love to try orange chocolate habanero ice cream.

My thoughts exactly.

But...this was from a vegan meal..... So what is making the cream? Tofu?

IDK, but in general I prefer my vegan food to be real food, not "I am pretending to be cream" or "I am pretending to be steak":sick

Ive never eaten snails. I hope i never have too

Yummy! All you need to remember is that they are soaked in BUTTERand GARLIC. So, what is not to love?

I am going to, one more time....see if I can post my favorite @vehve photo. This one needs to have a caption on it, maybe "I am faaaaalling!!"

EDITED TO SCREAM STILL NO PHOTO POSTING!!!

Do you suck the heads on the crawfish?

I used to spend a lot of time in Louisiana, mostly N'awlins and fishing in the bayou but spent a great day at the grand opening of Catfish Town on the riverfront in Baton Rouge. Ate a lot of crawfish, shrimp and oysters that day.

We often have a big party for Mardi Gras where we do a big crawfish boil.

You guys don't know what you're missing - escargot in garlic butter together with some white bread is delicious. Mmmmmmmmm. Yum.
properly prepared, escargot is delicious

People will also use corn meal to purge clams. Unfortunately, most of the ones I have had fried or steamed, were not purged. Not a huge fan of gritty food.

Earthworms are purged with cornmeal too.

I agree with the real food thing. The ice cream is made specially for the restaurant by a local place called "I Scream Cakes". He said he thought it's made from coconut milk - which is real food. The owner of the restaurant is vegan but they do sell some dairy and egg things. This dinner was all vegan though. Sometimes she buys my eggs for their Sunday brunch.

I just rode 1.5 hours to the university with my son to get his school books that we couldn't get online. They're on backorder. Wasted trip.

Wow, it's getting hot here. I think I'll just move the incubators outside and turn the power off.

Finally the image upload seems to be working, so now some pictures of our plum tree.

Here's a before from earlier this year:

Here we've started digging, and I took out the Aspen tree that was growing there. The top of it had gotten a huge growth spurt this year, and had grown three times bigger leaves than the lower parts, I'm thinking the poop drains from the coop filling the ground under the spot where we're planting, fertilizing it in the process.

Here we have the new plum tree planted, in the bed we built with stolen stones. All the soil is home composted or reused from our potato towers.

And then a few pictures of the finished product.

@vehve it does look very nice...but why oh why would you take out a lovely aspen???

I tried growing an aspen...but I am just a bit above the "deciduous tree zone" so it died. I have gotten one birch to live. I do have two "i can't believe I am still alive, I wish I weren't" apple trees. they never bloom.... Just enough leaves to stave off death.
