Exploding water mains - now that's a major inconvenience.

Moth balls are a good cat repellant. But once they start you have to get rid of the urine odor first. One thing you might also try is giving the cat a diversion cat box.

Moth balls are not good if you have kids or if you think the chickens might get into them.

Or fence the garden so the cat cant get in. If its a male you will have to put up a deflector screen....

I tried moth balls years ago, when we had a couple of cats in that same area. Didn't work for us. :/ You know what I'm thinking, when you mentioned fence..I wonder if putting down a piece of fence that would work. Something that would be big enough to allow veggies to grow through, but would bother the cat when it stats to dig..hits wire! Hmmmm......

ok thank you for that suggestion, right now they get laying pellett and chick starter mixed together. They love it! I don't really know where to find wheat seeds.

I have one doing a light molt, it's first just before it starts laying. I give my girls Calf Manna when I start seeing feathers all over the place.

You can give them a spoon full of tuna or canned catfood each every other day, or some cat food kibble scattered about. I feed mine BOSS (black oil sunflower seed) and Calf Manna along with their regular food. I will also mix starter with some plain yogurt about twice a week.

Oh, and the old stand-by, scrambled eggs!

You mentioned it I see...and, I also give scrambled eggs to them. BOSS too.

actually I used to have three roos for twenty five hens. One roo was dominant so he didnt allow the other roos at "his" hens. but what the other roos did was keep him on his toes watching them.... of course they would get a lick in every once and a while then there would be a bloood curtleing scream and youd see the offender run across the yard with the dominant roo in full persuit.... The third party would be do de doing around the yard till he was close enough to get a lick in himself.....

My hens didn't seem the worse for wear. LOL.

So, Bama, got lakefront property?

What does a blown up water main look like? I mean, is it a geyser? Sounds kind of fascinating but for the inconvenience.
