The Old Folks Home

a four beat gait is the same pattern as a walk. In Saddle breds that would be called Racking... In icelandics the gait is called Tolt.... and in Tennessee Walkers its a running walk. Can be as fast as a medium Canter.

Can be faster than that in some:

I would have so loved having the chance of riding a Morgan!  I've only heard good things about their gate.  Have also heard that they are great with endurance, and yes, nothing like a mule..haven't been on one of those either.   :D    Those mules are pretty sure footed too from what I hear.  Had a friend that couldn't stop talking about his mules and all that they could do, including..out smart you.  :)

My dad trained mules until tractors finally took over. He kept some mules after we got a tractor for plowing. Our last pair of mules was a large bay mule and the other was a dappled gray that looked like a percheron. The gray was the gentlest mule that I have seen. Me and my two younger brothers would climb up on her big broad back and ride her.

Horse bites hurt... My neighbours horses bite you on the shoulder if you turn your back.... But I still like em

Horses bite, horses bump, horses step on feet..horse will, or may drag you after you fall off and you are too stubborn to let go of the reins until you decide that something isn't feeling too good.

Yep, horses are great, although they can be unpredictable at times. But I don't care, I love them!!
