The Old Folks Home

Dang Wisher, you're making me want to go to a chicken show LOL Not to show my birds, but just to enjoy the company of those others there :) Sounds like a real blast.
I love going to shows. I don't have anything that has a category at shows but I'm amazed to see everything there.
Just wear different clothes and shoes than you do at home and wash up well when you get back.
Biosecurity worries me.

Your family won't eat your birds?
My wife likes mushy chicken so the only time she'll eat mine is if I smoke some. With a freezer full, she buys at the grocery store.

We harvested our first parsnips and carrots today.

Together with some homegrown potatoes, some onion, a bit of venison and some Koskenlaskija cheese (sort of a cream cheese, made mostly out of aged emmental) it's going to make for a lovely soup/stew in the evening.
Nice, I love parsnips.
This time of year and later, I like to make a casserole from parsnips, carrots, onions, yams, potatoes, turnips and rutabaga - in that order.
I have to remember to dig potatoes this week.

Sure, but dinner is served at around 21 today, so that gives you about 4 hours to get here. Might be a bit tight... Whipped lingonberry porridge for dessert.

The SST no longer flies.

I have to apologize but I have to skip over the last few days of posting. We just got back yesterday evening and today I am home catching up on laundry and grocery shopping. I hope no one had any calamities and but that a lot of people had good things happen.
I had such a wonderful time up in NY. Not just because of the wedding (although it was just fabulous!). DD's inlaws are about the best family you could hope a son or daughter married into. Just super nice, super loving, close knit and would do anything for each other. His mom welcomed me into the family and I am honestly honored to be considered family. I am also "allowed"

to talk about the grandchild since just about everyone knows now. As much as I was excited for the wedding, I am even more excited for the grandchild. They are going to be great parents and they have a lot of family around to help out. OK on to the pictures. Now I did not get any of the actual ceremony since I wanted to watch instead of be distracted taking photos but I will share those from her photographer once she gets them.
Evening before the ceremony

The bridge all decorated for the wedding

DD, friends and family decorated a lot of bottles for the centerpieces. Each one was different.

Morning of the ceremony

Maid of honor.

DD getting her hair set

The dresses

The rings and DD's boots she wore

From left to right, maid of honor's BF (he saved the day by riding the horse to the ceremony because she wouldn't load onto the trailer), step brother, DH and DS.

After the ceremony

DD and her new husband

My goddaughter (I haven't seen her since she was a toddler now all grown up and 16) and me

DD and maid of honor

This is her grandmother's rosary. DD wanted to honor her memory by entwining it into her bouquet.

This is almost all of her cousins from her dad's side of the family. It was so great to see all of them again. Wonderful day, wonderful company!
