The Old Folks Home

@Alaskan Isn't a person who's afraid of snow living in Alaska a bit like a gerontophobe living in Florida?

However, I am not actually SCARED of the snow....I just don't like the snow.

I am a 7th generation Texan....ancestors showed up when it was still part of Mexico...our house got burned down my Santa Anna's army.

Hot weather, I love it, hot and dry, hot and wet, all good. You want me to wax poetic, and sound all positive, dreamy, and upbeat? Ask me anything about Texas. I love the swampy East (though I love to tease them), I love the flat way north with its hidden canyons and dry prairie, the rolling blacklands, the hill country, our own little grand canyon area, we have our own Ayers Rock too....fantastic country, it can't be beat.

However, I really dislike large numbers of people....more people keep moving to Texas all the time. The old home place is surrounded by people now, horrid. That gives me the giant willies. I had to move someplace with fewer people, and I wanted to be around people that are the same kind of crazy as I am, or at least a compatible kind of crazy.

I fit in great here, love the town, love the amenities, love the people, I just really hate the weather.

The people in Texas are no longer 'my kind' of people. The people up here aren't either, but we are compatible types, so we work well together.

I am a fifth generation Californian. My Relatives, Pingrees, in Nevada City raised sheep to sell to the miners.
