The Old Folks Home

You know.... I just like people....

I am drawn to men who are Not so pretty. Oh I admire a six pack or broad shoulders... But if there isnt a sense of humor a passion for books and a "manly" sense of confidence... I have seen too much Machismo.... I aint interested.

Women too. We all know women really dress for women right? Men arent so complicated... Not a bashing comment but we are Wayyy different from each other.

I admire people in general who are fit and athletic.... But I also Like people who look like they have been dragged through a knot hole backwards... And want to know the story of how they got there.

One time I was sitting in the local bar just absorbing the atmosphere.... And a beer or two. Two fellows sit up next to me. One an older gentleman John who drives a tow truck. And the other who I had only seen around town at night.... Always wore a bandana around his neck and his truck looked like He found it abandoned in the desert.

All I knew was his name was Clint and he ran the only Farm in Town.... Baby spinach and Arugula all organic. Probably a section of land.... 660 Acres or 267 Hectares... They did their work in the evening and he was in the bar by nine.

I had just started my second beer and the crowd was all locals getting pretty boisterous.... here comes Clint and John. Their conversation was already going....

Clint "I tell you its easy"
John "I dont believe it... You cant tell me.... you can find that on the internet"
Clint " all you need is C4 and the right shape container..."
John " Cant be done they are lyin"
Clint "Shaped charge is all you need.... and a timer and Plutonium.... Thats the hard part"
John " Yeh right.... He staggered off to smoke (we cant smoke in bars any more)

I turned to Clint.... "You forgot the Deuterium" His eyes lit up and he changed seats to sit next to me.... "You are right"

I said... "Atomic bomb?"
Clint "yep"
I said... "Its really NOT that easy is it
Clint "nope"

Then the conversation got interesting....
I said... "So HOw did you wind up running the farm
Clint... "I have a PHD in organic chemestry
I said... "Dang...."
He then went on to describe the chemicals he used on the farm and how quickly they worked and how completely they became innert within a few seconds.
I said... "Dang.... So where did you work before"
Clint. "Litton Industries"

He used to be a VP at Litton Industries back in the day they were developing the technique for growing crystals for Microprocessors. He was one of a team who worked with creating Cubic Zirconia and synthetic Rubies and a few others. We are talking multiple PHDS here Math Physics Electrochemical You name it. When I asked him why he quit. He said he wasnt happy any more. He simply walked away.

What makes him happy? Working with his hands. The farm was sold to developers and shut down.... He makes picnic tables now out of scrap wood.

Sounds like a very interesting guy perchie.girl

Oxexpat we had fish tacos last night.... Yum.'

Oz, sounds delicious, and Deb, that sounds like an interesting guy. Probably could have had interesting conversations with him about loads of subjects.

I love fish tacos.... YummO.

These people I talk to I take em at face value. I Don't care weather they are lying or not... Everyone embellishes to some extent. Most don't once they understand I understand... Actually the opposite occurs... they open up...

Like the Crazy Russian.... Who lived across the street from the Bar... Who had a PHD in physics and at one time worked at General Atomic.

Or the Man in black I picked up off the free way because it was 105 degrees out.... over eighty hitch hiking on the freeway... Missed the bus. Retired acoustical engineer working on a project in his trailer having to do with Ultra sound transmission. He had already walked five or so miles before I picked him up....

Or the Native American Shaman I met who taught me how to purge my house of negative energy with Sage...

Or the Amazing man from Australia I met... who Just decided to build an incubator and by the time he was done everyone at the Local meetups were requesting him to do impromptu seminars.... Collecting eggs from all over the US... All while managing a hospital, and raising a family in the Philippines.

Its amazing what people know.... and the interesting people you meet when you are willing to listen.

Cynthia I can learn how to make it look like you are riding on a broom. I saw a lesson on how to do that a while back.

Went out yesterday to get some fall foliage shots. There is a small canyon in the next town over and it was a perfect day for shots.

I am also learning a new technique. Just wish I had my birthday present before we went to the Grand Canyon. Sunrise would have been awesome to shoot this way but I needed the intervalometer to do it.

Hi All!

My account was messed up until just now. I paid to renew my Golden Feather membership and lost all my permissions.

It is great to be back on!
