Yep and if you dont have a hard hat you cant go in Or you can buy one for fifteen bucks from them. Same one at the hardware store would cost you about six...
Thats Why I do my diving in back alleys and along affluent streets. Some people jsut set stuff on the curb with a free sign on it. I picked up six Railroad ties, three rolls of GOOD chicken wire and when He found out what I was doing with it he came back with about ten Tposts... Seems his wife didnt want a veggie garden in the back yard...
I have also gotten firewood this way.... people trim out the tree then stack the wood in their driveway with a free sign on it.... Gotto have some muscle to retrieve it though because Eucalyptus is pretty heavy....
Oh and kids toys.... Play structures swingsets and cozy coops.... Tables and chairs and barbeques.... too. Patio furniture that just needs to be restrung.... and a coat of paint... good stuff too.
Mom was always making me snag couches especially when I got my trunk... She was a whiz at reappoulstering from the Bargain bin.... then put about 25 bucks worth of time and materials then reselling the couch for a hundred bucks.
My very best snag was five single car garage doors. When i worked for ARCO I chatted up a local guy whos business was modernizing garage doors. He was in the middle of a condo complex job when I found out. He had five of them left to do. He even brought them to me. I still have them at the house. Single car garage doors are eight by eight feet... All heavy plywood with structure behind them. perfect for a wall or a roof.
Then In the industrial allyways you can get roebust pallets. I got about six for sheet metal... Those things were made of three to four 4 x 4s that were ten feet long and 1 x 6 cross pieces Kind of worthless but heck they burn just the same. Or if they didnt split down the middle when you tried to get them off they would be perfect for nailing up for wind breaks.,
