I was like

See Bunny.

See Bunny read.

See Bunny read about Dick and Jane.

See Bunny wait.

Why are you waiting, Bunny?

Bunny is waiting for the other children to finish reading about Dick and Jane.

See Bunny yawn.

The price one pays for being an eager, early reader.

Yes, I was beyond those books then too. They were quite silly too.

I started reading books that were in the house at a young age. Mom and Dad were part of a Sci Fi club. Dad also read westerns so I read some of those too.

My youngest brother walked up to the library desk when he was in first grade with a filled out application for a library card. The librarian asked him what he was going to do with the card and he said: "read these books!"

He was the youngest to ever get a library card at the Tehama county library....

Golly, it's a wonder anyone learned to read with those tedious Dick & Jane books. I didn't like kids books, I used to read what my sister brought home from the library (she is 4.5 yrs.) older than me. My dad got a lot of magazines, so I was leading Life, and Look, and Reader's Digest, and I think it was called "something Mechanics" or like that - it had a DIU cartoon that was wordless, just pictures - I really liked that. Must have been the start of Ikea or Dania instructions.
