The Old Folks Home

Yeah. Yours is 100% a girl. I loved my leghorns. They were so... special. Bring me Solo and the Wookiee, they will suffer for this outrage
:lau The chick whose gender was being questioned is peep_shows... I think... Well the real cold is supposed to hit this Thursday -17 at least it'll be dry.... But my FF bucket feeders are not going to be working in that temperature :(

Hard to keep track of who posted what sometimes. I was quite a few pages behind. Please forgive me.

I looked on ebay and there's no eggs for white leghorns for sale right now except one and the description doesn't make me think they're purebred.

I'd love to have some leghorns again. They were such sweet birds, but died very early.

Our leghorn, Dora, is three...and still laying at least twice every week. She's sweet and chatty but still doesn't like to be touched.

I cannot tell you the breed of the bird because (s)he was hatched from a Trader Joe's supermarket egg, so could be almost any sort of a hybrid. The black spots on yellow fuzz was what threw me, like perhaps an Austra White? I dunno.... But the pics are creating more confidence that I have an added pullet to the lay flock. (So now at 6)

I may do one more incubation and see if I can get the Marans and Welsummers that I originally was hatching for (want those dark eggs!). Will the guest bedroom ever be rid of chickens? The coop is designed for 10 birds.

:hit duck feathers too much for our homemade plucker :hit

Awe poor Alaskan, there, there

My hatchery perl white were/are egg laying machines!!! NOTHING can beat them!

I love my black and brown sex links... The brown girls just started laying again today...
Think they only quit for three weeks, their old.
