Just zipping thru the last billion pages, I cannot keep up with your guys. Did notice Ronott said something about using nutella in the traps. Heck if he does the first thing he will catch is ME.

I have in the past gathered duck down... but not today..... Too much extra work

It is great though..... I will try to get some next duck we slaughter.


We do keep some chicken feathers for fly tyeing and hat ornaments.

I toss em in the garden when I don't want to clean them up for other uses... I keep them for flying too
Next year I want to make a blanket... Supposed to only take 6 to make a queen sized blanket
For some reason I find that extremely exciting... Maybe I need to get out more.

another way to make those bucket traps is fill em up with a bout six inches of water and toss in enough bird seeed or scratch to float on the top layer.... mousie sees seed hops in and drownes

Probably would work with packing peanuts too... Looks like food or bedding.

HOW??? I have plucked a number of ducks, and some geese, and all the down I took off fit in ONE pillow case.

Of course, I take the down only, no feathers. Is that the difference?

There is a how to PDF on here some where... I'll find it... Pretty sure she used everything but the quill feathers. I know it sounds nuts right? I have a garbage bag half full with all the feathers from 15 Roos

It is crazy how much the down compresses.

Using feathers would make it ultra faster.
