RIP 1953-2021
I tend to stick in the 10-15 € range, usually you get pretty good stuff for that price.
I buy my wine in the box....

but back when I was making good money I rarely paid more than ten bucks for a bottle. I love wine I guess I am not a connesure....
BUT Once I did get a taste....
It was around 82 or 83I went to the local Liquor store for a bottle of wine and I was AGAIN celebrating New Years alone. So I ws doing a scallop stir fry but I wanted a bottle of Cabernet.
I saw one on the top shelf that had 12 bucks on it.... so I had the clerk get it down... It had some sediment in the bottom so I figured it had gotten too hot or something because the wines on either side of it were going for 70 or 80 bucks a piece. So I thought What the heck.....
I have to say I did open it and let it breathe and poured a glass while I was cooking. Oh my it was smooth and aeromatic and just yummy.... It was good with the Scallops and with the movie I rented too. Finished it off that evening.
When I went back by the liquor store the next couple of days the clerk zoomed to the back room and brought out the owner.... Who was a very nice Italian man... I hear you bought one of our nice wines the other night... Oh yes I said it was very good. "I am glad because My SON turning to the clerk.... missed a decimal point on that bottle.... That wine was supposed to be sold for 120 dollars.
at first I was afraid he was going to try to get me to pay the balance... but he just wanted to know how I liked the wine and I think he wanted to know I treated it right not mixing it in some punch or making wine coolers with it.... Shudder.
"No I had a little before dinner more with dinner and finished the evening with it. it was very special I realized that the moment i tasted it. " He looked greatly releaved.
I now Know that the sediment in the bottom of the bottle is something called Beeswings.... evidence of aging.
I still have the bottle somewhere....
