The Old Folks Home

deb, I don't connect my hard drives through USB. I use SATA cables. After you clone, unplug the SATA cable, and power cable to the drive, and leave the drive in the bay, then it's all safe, and ready to go next time you do a back up, or need to swap drives. I even have my cables marked, so there is no screw up when swapping drives. It's fast, and easy. As to sending files to your clients, using a jump drive would probably be best. When business gets to the point that you are spending a lot on jump drives, consider a web page (godaddy.com) where you can upload the files, and when each file is clicked, it asks for a code, or password, which can be different for each customer, and you just email the file name, or number, and the code or password to the customer so they can access, and download their file(s), AFTER THEY HAVE PAID FOR THEM. LOL!

For those wanting to back up their hard drive, without using the cloud....get a second hard drive, connect power supply, and cable. I use Seagate Disc Wizard, and clone my drive, then disconnect the cloned drive. At least once a month, put the back up hard drive in, and re-clone. Any documents, pictures, etc. that are important, and ongoing just save to a CD, then when you perform your next clone session to your back up hard drive, throw the cd away. I have been doing this for years. DH thought I was dumb for doing it, until lightening hit the house, and fried our main hard drives. I was up, and running within minutes, and didn't lose anything. He, on the other hand, learned that I was not so dumb. LOL! This also works in the event you get a virus, or some nasty malware on your original drive. Put in the back up drive, add the files from the CD to make it current, then clone the back up drive onto the original drive, and your back in business, worry free, within a few minutes.
I've considered cloning. Let me ask this. If you clone the primary drive, is it possible to boot off of the clone on the same computer?

Bummer DK, about all of it... Uncle lost a whole crop once, mother plants too, because his kid forgot about them...

Thats what I was hoping to do.... Godady.com.... going to check it out. I finally found a free CAD software that is fully liscensed and downloaded it last night... it works seamlessly with any software that has 3d capabilities. so I may be up and running again.
Last time I worked from home I was able to pay the mortgage.... and I was only working about three days per week.

I was just doing CAD Drawing conversions.... So If this software is as I think it is I should be proficient on it within about 10 days. So I will be disappearing for long stretches...
