CC, when you make a clone drive, you can make it bootable, and it will be an identical copy of your existing drive, HOWEVER, you can only boot from one drive at a time, so you will need to disconnect one of the bootable drives by pulling the SATA cord. If you simply want a backup copy of photos, documents, etc. on a second drive, don't make it bootable, and just copy-paste, or schedule your backup program to backup the files onto the second drive. You can also put Windows on a jump drive, and boot from that, then any hard drives become storage drives.
Gotcha, thanks. I just thought it would be beneficial to have a bootable clone in the machine (disconnected) which would save so much time in the event one had to start over.
For files and photos, it's a simple thing to put them on a flash drive or CD.

Exactly. Like I said, when we got hit by lightening, all I had to do was open the case, plug in the cloned drive, and I was up, and running.
Quote: Yes vehve, you can do this, however, it's still a good idea to have a disconnected current, bootable, cloned drive(s) in the event of hard drive failure, especially if your current hard drive is getting on in years, or if you are in an area prone to lightening strikes. A UPS won't help in the event of the hard drive failing, and from experience, it doesn't always do a lot of good when lightening strikes. Living in Central Florida, we get a lot of lightening. A UPS, most of the time will take the hit, and fry, but save the electronics when lightening strikes the building, or travels through the power lines, but not always. I have my tv, reciever, computer, and monitor all on UPS's. In fact, I've always said if/when I ever get a new expensive refrigerator, it too will be on a UPS. LOL!

I pulled a Reagan on my bf today with a "I do not recall.." when he said something about throwing out the bag of awful in his workshop.

Just like he doesn't recall not watering my plants while I was sick and half of them died. Agh. 2 months work down the toilet.

The joys of domestic bliss. I lived in some scary places in Alaska. With the passing of rec mj there and my kiddo living in Anchorage, I'm tempted. But I'd need a lot of greenhouse space etc, I imagine it's not cheap. But I am thinking about it. That's all Alaska needs is a returning daughter to grow more plants, critters and bring closed loop extraction systems there.

My greyhound Sagan is being a crybaby pest today. All morning. Whining. Crying. Pacing. Why? He's fed, watered, petted, played, pottied. The hounds are getting old. 11 years old. We're starting to think of a different breed of dog to get for livestock guardian for when one of my boys passes. It's going to take a couple years to train a guardian dog, any experience you guys have?

Bama- don't add bird napping from a public land on your rap sheet. Gangsta.
