Anyone near Cooskie Mtn. California?
Are you blowing away?

I probably should have waited to ask since you likely lost power.
Not Cooskie Mtn. but we are expecting the storm to come down here...

yep California does not get hurricanes the high winds are because of the canyons in the mountains....
I guess you're not near Cooskie. That's pretty far north isn't it?
96 mph winds today.
Not surprised.... we get 80 Mph gusts because we are between the desert and the ocean.... just the different temps will cause hurricane force winds espeically in the spring and fall.

Quote: Yep.... Here we get flash flood warnings but we have few costal mountains and buildings in mudslide areas.

Lots of rain in a short time for an area that has been having such a long drought.

I hope the mudslides aren't too severe. Wouldn't it be nice to start getting a little rain occasionally to get the vegetation taking root again?
It just took three days for the wild grasses to pushup two inches..... This is normal for California.... Periods of drought periods of normal rain.... Its just this drought had been compounded by other weather.... I just looked at the stats on it and its the worst drought in recorded history for California.

We are in Central Utah. Yes, dry. I prefer the dry. Our son that was in GA for 2 yrs, got really sick a few times there with Bronchitis. He's been home since mid Oct. So far so good..he got that Bronchitis twice while out..and once it lasted for 5 months! I lived in Florida, didn't go back until years later..oh..my..goodness! Did not like that humidity! I don't mind driving on the snow of course, I'm used to it now. It's the black ice that we don't like here.

Deb most of my hiking pictures are from trails in the Salt Lake City area. I agree with you it is very pretty country if they could just do something about the winters

Of course you have to have snow if you are going to claim best snow on Earth

I have to admit though, this winter has been wonderfully mild so far. Temps above average and the biggest amount of snow we have had on the valley floor was an inch or so. I know the ski resorts are not enjoying it but I am. No shoveling and no "skating" into work as we go over the mountain pass. Not bad at all.
