Tired tired tired. Got my winter stash of concentrates in jars though. About 400 lbs of chicken feed. Bring on the zombie apocalypse. Lol

erm... i am confused... "roaching" for me is cutting all the mane off a horse with clippers to give a nasty ragged mane a fresh start.... Or in some cases relief from the heat.

OH I just looked it up.... Its the position my dog used on the couch.... Slap me up .... Yep he was pretty good at it.

Here it gets pretty hot in the summer even down by the coast so even though i would invite him to stay in the bed.... He would lay for a while as long as I skritched him... but he would get too hot and hop down.

First month I had him he had to learn every thing from how to eat kibble to how to get in and out of the car. I made him a bed by mine so I could hear him if he got up and needed to go outside. He was a very good boy in the house. one night He got up and I could hear him with his soft pant Hot night disappear into the living room... then I would hear the soft pant heh heh heh as hed come right back... then scratch scratch oomf hed lay down but hed be right back up and disappear into the living room.... He made about four trips... By then I was leaning over the side of the bed and watching through the light of the night light.

He was bringing my dirty clothes in from the bathroom and piling them up on his bed... then patting them down turning around and around then testing them to see if they were comfy enough.... By the time he was done the bed was at least eight inches thick.

That was when I realized he understood this was his home. My smell.... Of course I went and bought him a thicker cushion for his Ginormous bed....

I would have another in a heart beat....

Greyhounds are such easy mellow velcro dogs. Sagan will rub himself up against anyone and get his "petting" in. He's very afraid of the floors. Sad. Sad. Sad.

The sofa in the picture that's "their's" was a brand new leather sofa they licked the finish off. The new cream berber carpet in the living room, licked a hole through to the bare subfloor. We ripped it up and replaced it with reclaimed hardwood from a 1925 house to go with our 1932 hardwood floors.

Who knew though getting my floors redone is MORE expensive than buying new flooring and getting it installed?

The house horses (greyhounds) are getting on in age, going on 12 years old. We're starting to think about what kind of dog to get next to protect my flocks and property. And even though I'm allergic to cats, I think finding a great barn cat/mouser is going to be my only hope of controlling my mice situation which has me frustrated beyond tears atm.

I'm going to call my friend Becky and barter with her to borrow her mouser. She will be one fat well fed fat barn cat when all is said and done. I'm sick of feeding these rodents. Agh.

Today of my 2 girlfriends are coming over to help me finish cleaning/purging my place after the super flu got me and still has a little grip on me. Gosh, I just love all my friends, including ya'lls.

Love greyhounds. We had Irish Wolfhounds for years and several had a floor thing. They would get up on their claws and just slip all over and then lay flat and refuse to move. There were also a couple who would not come through a doorway. I don't know where the behavior was learned.

At first, since they are all pullets from late May of this year, I thought maybe they were "whoops!" eggs that came as a surprise as a first or 2nd egg. But it's been happening on a more or less consistent basis, so I don't think that's the case for most of them... I'm ordering some ceramic eggs to put in there. As to the foam... I'm sure it isn't actual foam, but I saw a picture somewhere of what looked like a foam mat in the bottom of a nest box. The person who posted the pic said it was slip resistant and easy to clean with none of the mess associated with straw or other types of bedding commonly used. Can't remember where I saw it though.

could very well be.. where does everyone else get their seeds they mix to give their chickens?

They're delivered with everything else chicken related, feed, grit, oyster shell, etc.. We have a bit of a co-op.

as I read to find back up for my assumption I find that the companies that were doing it have either quit or sold off their bird seed division. I would read those lables though...

I'm amazed when people don't know the protein percentage of their feed or what the ingredients are.
I guess they don't read labels when they go grocery shopping either.

Today we went to Murdoch's and got 40 lbs of boss for $20 & 50 lbs cracked corn for $10. A couple of my girls are molting badly.

Sunflower unless dehulled, isn't that great a source of protein and corn is very low.
Both are great energy sources though.
