I noticed dottys comb starting to pinken up she be about 17 weeks now barred rock cross isnt that a indicator they are getting ready to start laying?
Yes, pinking up happens first, then they get pretty bright red right before they lay.

Didn't someone on this thread ask about egg selling?

I sell my eggs, mostly to neighbors.

I reuse old egg cartons. I do NOT wash. If I have to wash, then I tell them that I washed.

That was all the questions.. right?
 
Feathers are 90+% protein and eggs are big lumps of protein. They can't make both at once. The molt/post molt period is a very important time for refurbishing the reproductive tract so that once days get longer they can resume acting like the food replicating computer on star trek rather than a bird that happens to feed us breakfast occasionally.
