We have those giant flying roaches here that people euphemistically call "palmetto bugs" or "water bugs." Last summer I learned how to trap them, which is a win-win: gets rid of the roaches and makes my hens happy.rooachs omg.. vervhe here hand me the cake I'll save it!![]()
Take a big jar with a noticeable "shoulder." Wrap the outside in tape (I use gaff tape) so they'll be able to climb up the sides. Rub some vaseline on the inside of the jar shoulder--roaches can't climb up a concave surface, especially when it's greased.
I leave this in my storage buildings and basement overnight, and come out in the morning to a couple inches of live roaches in each jar (it's like something out of your nightmares, frankly). I take them out and dump them in the chickenyard and the girls go nuts. So far, not a single roach has made it out of the yard alive.
