I am going to be sixty in June.... Never smoked but my mom was a pack a day smoker so I can handle being around them. I drink too much still on occasion. I am 200 lbs over weight.... Snapped my ACL ligament climbing the mounting block steps to get on my horse back in 2001... they fixed it but I favored it long enough to wear out the other knee. Torn meniscus in that one too, I am certain and arthritis as well.

I was thrown more than a hundred times from horses my first two years of riding... it was a badge of honor at my riding stables... crushed a vertibre in the process and didnt find that out till I was about 25. Never mind the whiplash...

So right now I can barely walk to the car without assistance.... Oz has met me and he knows... I tried to do a chicken meet up here that was on gently sloping land.... Wheeling walkers are an adventure on sloped land... So unfortunately I gave up on going...

Add to that I dont have chickens any more....

But I am still hopefull.... I have lost enough weight my pant waist sits up high.... and the swelling is going down in my legs and feet... Yay.

Not doing anything jsut off my feed and taking advantage of it.

Have to admit I don't like Irish dancing and it's really not personal. But there is an old,bag on the bus that always brags about her grandchildren - especially one daughter who wins all her Irish dancing contests. Another grandaughter lives in Ireland and all she does is poo poo her saying" well she can dance but, that's the best I can say about it." And back to blabbing about the favorite gr.daughter that lives out here. We had a few words when I said " Oh gee after she gets a free scholarship to Irish Dancing U. will she be able to find a job? Things got a mite heated and Bob(the toughest) seniors bus driver, pulled into a gas station and told us to behave or he would dump us out.

When the bus started up again so did we -no hair pulling or anything just very expressive language (thank God no BYCers to report it) He was going to dump us - yeah right - the old grocery bag needs a cane to walk. I just told him fine and walked the 2.5 miles home (nice weather) I need air, she was sucking all the oxygen out of the bus.

I don't dislike her for being Irish. I dislike her for being a hot, gaseous, old grocery bag, that just happens to be Irish. She always berates the "other" grand daughter every chance she gets. Mainly she is mad that' THAT' son of hers married an Irish girl and moved to Ireland. They have her come out 2 or 3 times a year( for a month at a time) and all she does is froth at the mouth about them, their cold home, their tiny home, their awful food - how Ireland is awful
But, she goes, I suspect because her Son(she lives with here) can't wait to see her leave. I feel very badly for those in Ireland who have to entertain her and turn a deaf ear to all her "constructive" criticism. I have never disliked anyone else as much as her.

BTW my gr.niece is Kaitlin and gr.nephew is Patrick(Nieces hubby is Irish. My very best friend was Ruth Ann Callahan - my dad said we looked like "Mutt and Jeff" some comic characters of that era I guess. Ruth Ann was 5'7" at 12 years of age, I was 4'9".

Maybe I am taking this personally. My parents always bragged about my Older sister and younger brother & my son. As for me, I would hear "Oh, she's the same." when mom was on the phone and promptly change the subject.

Yes heat is a bigger killer than cold isn't it?
We get some crazy hot days from time to time up to 45°C.... Rare but it does happen. Last summer when the temperatures hit somewhere in the mid 30s I could tell my ducks where having a very hard time with it... It's awful when it's hot in the shade. My Chickens on the other hand were smart enough to seek out the cooler temperatures in the forest. But I have had a couple oddball hens that wouldn't leave the coop, and I had to keep spraying the roof down with cold water to keep the temperatures tolerable for them...
Living right out of Shreveport which is NW La. I thought it was hot, but going on a trip to New Orleans (beach) a few years ago , I thought I was going to die. The humidity is high in Shreveport 60% or so but New Orleans, is almost 100%. Make you sick kind of heat. Like the cold gets us down here. It's the humidity mixed with the temp that takes it into overdrive. Whether cold or hot. Miserable. My coops are under the trees and I spray a lot of water. They need to be comfortable and sometimes only ice will do.. Jugs of ice for them to snuggle up against or stand on . Or put into the waterers. Fans will help. I didn't have any available last year so I kept running out with the ice. They were not worried about the heat. They were entertained at this crazy person running around.

DD . I totally get it. Been there. Still there. Mom and dad loved us all, but we all did not get even close to the same amount or attention. Now that she has dementia it's of course worse. But ya do what ya can.

I like all kinds of music some more than others, but it would drive me crazy to only be able to hear one kind.

Had leftover pizza. Fast. heated in the oven not bad. Not as good as real food.
