Ok, I watched several videos on bathing chickens. I read several web pages on the subject. I have bathed chickens before. NO ONE warned me that my cockerel would love it so much, he fell asleep twice. His head slumped forward, and I grabbed under his head, just before he went under to his eyeballs. I know he got his nostrils in the water. He did that twice. I kept my hand under his head after that. Should I be concerned about him having inhaled a little water? His lungs sound clear so far. One of the hens was about to do the same thing, but I propped her head up in my hand. I wasn't taking any chances. The last hen I did, liked the bath, and was very calm, but she stayed awake, which is how it's been with other chickens I've bathed.

Thank you all for your reassurances last night. My chickens were fine today.

Yeah all the videos of watching baths everyone fell asleep... the funniest one was the silky bath.... She was white fuffball and they died her PINK for a wedding.... She was adorable wearing pink pearls sitting in the brides lap for photo ops.

they used animal safe die for dogs....

did you use the blow drier?

might not be because he liked it so much might be stress sleeping or whatever it's called

Perchie who could forget a very HOT Pink silkie wiith a tiara? That gal drew a lot of attacks - I'm glad she didn't let that phase her. The silkie was very personable and calm. Nobody got hurt and it was just fun.

And Mom, not to mince words, told me "You'd better develop a personality because you sure won't get anybody on your looks." Hmmmm..... I wonder if that's why I cannot find any teen pics of me.

Glad to hear. I wouldn't worry about the water inhalation... Just keep an eye on him incase...
 
perchie, I like the tiger dog, and rainbow kitty, but that poor cat with the monkey on it's behind is just wrong! Yes, I used the blow dryer some, high heat, low fan, but not too much, because I didn't want to fluff the feathers. The feathers have to be tight, not fluffy.

AJ, I don't think it was stress sleeping. That particular cockerel is VERY comfortable around me, and Dh. He will come to me, and stand still next to me so I can pet him, and he likes it when I pick him up, and carry him around. He will climb in my lap, when I sit down near him. The exception is, NOT in front of the ladies. LOL! He does that when I chase the ladies out into the run, shut the door, and he's alone with me. MEN! Even the animal variety. LOL! While my other rooster, and cockerel are not aggressive in any way, they are nothing like him personality wise. He's the one that has helped restore my Dh's faith in roosters, after he was spurred by one I had prior to any of these. Dh is amazed how he will stand there, and let him pet him, calm as can be. I don't know if he will remain the way he is, but I know Rattlesnake Ridge had a rooster named Dundee that was extremely tame, and Dundee would jump on Rattlesnake Ridge's lap, or legs when he would sit in a chair on the porch, and didn't mind being petted. Time will tell.

Anyway, now I know that when I get to the wattles, face, and comb part of the bath, I have to support under the head.
 
The punk next-door knocked me down on ice when I was 8. Broke off the bottom half of both permanent front teeth . My mother didn't like the temporary crowns , so told me NOT to smile in any photos. My older sister had crooked / crowded teeth. My mom said she'd never get married because of that. Well she's the only one of the 3 of us that did get married. My mom was great at NOT building our self esteem.

Why do some mothers enjoy torpedoing their own kids?
