The Old Folks Home

I've no idea. They certainly look like different ages.

My coop fairy sent me some great pics I plan on sharing each day.

I'm amazed at how the Emperor males incubate the eggs in that climate and carry the eggs around on their feet.

I think they hatch just one egg at a time, but I wonder if pairs adopt orphans? Guess it could be two different pairs just waiting for their mats to return from feeding?

regarding my tirade....

There is an argument that back yard chickens are pets and that they should not be treated in the same category as commercial flocks. Enrofloxicin is OK for pets.

The problem is that resistant bugs spread just like non-resistant bugs. What you do in a back yard flock can effect the livestock industry.

This afternoon it was announced that China is banning all egg and poultry imports from USA, The ban is in response to a December detection of a highly pathogenic strain of H5N8 influenza in wild birds and in a backyard flock of guinea hens and chickens in Oregon, along with separate H5N2 HPAI detections in wild birds in California and Washington State.

Wild birds and H5N8 in one flock of backyard birds in Oregon shuts down an anual quarter of a billion dollars in exports. In bo way could you holf the poor chook owner responsible but it shows what can happen with our birds.

I wanna win a coop contest (pout whine).

But supposedly this contest is supposed to focus on marvelous runs.... my runs are not marvelous!

Anyway.... there is no way that my small coops would win... but I am planning on trying to get a couple diagrams up for the duck coop....

But, anyone see anything that I could improve on my Free Bantam coop? So that I have a chance of winning?
