The Old Folks Home

I found the feed I was looking for, and didn't have to drive too far to get it. There is an Ace Hardware nearby that is also a feed store. The price was good too.
There's a feed store right down the road from me that is convenient but I rarely use them. If I do, I look at the bag of feed first to see how old it is. They let it sit for up to a year. They had some vitamins that had expired by 3 years. I told them about it and 2 years later, the packets are still there. TSC does a better job of moving their feed but it's about 1.5 hours round trip. They carry Dumor and Purina.
Then, the coop fairy comes to the rescue with a feed co-op. She got a feed shipment every month or 2 and the variety is wonderful. Between lowering consumption by fermenting and the reduced co-op cost, I can now feed organic.
She moved to the city where the semi tractor trailer can't reach so the shipments are coming to my house from now on. BONUS!
Cheaper (in most cases) and delivered.
I can get all kinds of feed seeds and grains and an amazing variety of feedstuffs. Now I'm bragging.
Conventional finisher and grower feed, in 15, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24 and 27 %. Layer in 16 and 20% protein.
Organic feed in many different protein levels.
60% fishmeal and 36% poultry concentrate with fish and porcine meal.
Wheat, oats, barley, black and stripe sunflower, 4 kinds of feed peas, buckwheat, flax, etc..
Other things I don't use like soybean meal, cottonseed meal, canola meal, vitamin and mineral supplements, et. al.
I'm going to recruit other nearby chicken owners to join the co-op. I'm on the extreme north end of town and most of the chicken owners are in the central corridor from the inner city to the far west.

I keep wondering if your super high protein levels aren't detrimental to them.

I think 16% in the winter is just fine, but definitely not higher than 20%.

When it gets super cold, I don't increase their protein, I increase their fat intake.
I agree.
Too much protein is a waste of money and a burden on both the liver and kidneys.

Current DH not only drove his ex into the arms of someone else, but the someone else was a woman too. He condoned the relationship while he was married to her, but didn't expect her to leave him for her. Did I mention I married an idiot?

I have never been a FaceBook person

The idea of reading a post on how many times an indeterminate "friend" broke wind in the last hour never quite appealed to me .

Despite this, The Philippines is the largest per-capita use of social media in the world.

When I posted ads in the local version of craigslist, I always was asked to see pictures on my facebook page.

I relented. The Coco Poultry Farm Facebook Page was created I recently learnt a few things on how to get activity on the page and its really taken off. Even a few TOFH participants have added me as a friend.

Obviously my goal is to develop and expand our market but its also fun trying to write different posts each day to keep the traffiv "engaged" at the site.

One of my routine posts will be CHICKENOLOGY. If any of you have ideas on topics, let me know.
