The Old Folks Home

I so want to join in the Easter HAL, I miss having babies around the house, but Mads has a follow-up at Vandy in March so we'll be making the drive to Nashville. Just routine...making sure everything is growing well and that there are no rejection issues. We will be joining the Cinco de Mayo hatch, though. She's already planning a sleep over for lockdown...somebody got a new big girl bed (with trundle) for her birthday. I want some EEs and lavender orp chicks to add to the brooder with them though. Maddy's been wanting the "purple" chicks, especially.

Felt like spring today near Las Vegas. We went to the Valley of Fire state park to stay out of trouble in the casinos. Well I admit, I would much rather hike and take photos than gamble any day. Here are a few from our trip.

I had a productive day.

I repaired a breach in the netting between two of the breeder pens and reinforced another to prevent the same issue there. I cleaned out the brooder room and all the brooders. I cleaned all the waterers and refilled them. I put up a shell feeder in one of the breeder pens. I moved the oldest chicks to the Ameraucana pen. I moved two hens out of quarantine and in with their new men. I cleaned all the dead vegetation out of the flower bed by the back door and raked the side yard. I made tacos for supper.

I felt better today!

lol and I cant handle all that heat!! HEck summere here can be too much now that 90 is pretty common. I'll take the snow, though would be nice if it was spread out over the entire 5 months of winter. By April 1, I"ll be ok!! lol

Daffodils come up at the end of January here.

Almond festival is soon and they will be blooming then. My Plumb tree will bloom soon too.

We had our first Daffodil blooming today! The peaches are beginning to take on the glow they get just before blooming.
