I have the bator at 99* and three buckeye are suppose to hatch today one is piped already. Fingers crossed. They all hatch!

Kudzu is the worst. That stuff is everywhere and so hard to get rid of.

At my house it's the Japanese and Asian bush honeysuckle. Similar to kudzu in that it kills all native shrubs, plants and wildflowers.

I also have a huge problem with knotweed.

Other baddies in MO are Canada thistle and musk thistle spread rapidly and ruin pastures.
Also similar to kudzu is Chinese yam, covers everything.

Bad animals in MO are silver, bighead and black carp, zebra mussel and Chinese mystery snail, gypsy moth, European wood wasp, emerald ash borer and feral hogs.

And I thought I was being so health conscious using only canola oil.

I used to think so too.

most is genetically modified 90% in US and 80% in Canada.
European canola isn't.

our daytime highs @ 2:30 this pm. Windchills tonight expected to be -40. Not to be above zero until maybe the weekend.
my four-footed children are getting cabin fever and are chasing each other back and forth thru the house.

I was watching the weather this morning. Does anyone actually live in International Falls, Minnesota?

It hit 0 F here this morning.

Just found one of my seven year old hens dead.

She's a little stinky from sitting out at 72 degrees, so no, but I will necropsy her tomorrow. I have a feeling she died from fatty liver disease.

I hate losing an old bird. My oldest is 6 now. I had a bunch more the same age till the mink massacre last summer.

Make sure you check the kidneys. That can be a problem with a sudden death with no symptoms.

the stc1000 is a better choice.

I'm replacing all the incubator warehouse thermostats with those.

Thanks, that sure will help! One thing I noticed yesterday was that she seemed to have a huge layer of fat in her abdominal cavity, like maybe an inch thick? Was able to feel this by inserting my finger in her vent. Also felt something lumpy, but couldn't tell if it was fat or a tumor.

I lost a hen quickly a couple years ago. When I cut her open she was loaded with fat. The gizzard was completely encased in a ball of fat.

I lost one to cancer last year.
