The dosing info that bothers me the most is the Coriid powder one. How can someone say that the liquid dose is 9.5ml (912mg), but the powder dose is one teaspoon (~540mg to 660mg). The difference might not seem like much, but it could make a difference when treating a critically I'll bird.

Seems that a few years ago someone did some flawed math and came to the conclusion that the powder dose was 1/2 teaspoon. What they didn't understand was 1 teaspoon of powder does not weigh what one teaspoon of water weighs. Sigh...

It took me some time to figure that one out too.

I finally got some powder and weighed it yesterday. Sure enough, one teaspoon weighs about 3 grams. Before I had calculated the dose based on info on the Corid site and from my phone call to the mfg. Either way, the dose works out to 1.5 teaspoons being about the same as 9.5ml of the liquid. Problem is that most people assume that one with an educator badge knows what they posting about.

Other things, too, like ivermectin and moxidectin doses, most people recommend giving 10x the mfg's recommended dose. Sigh...

The educator badge has been tightened up now so hopefully it will be better now.

Having one is quite a responsibility though.

My little teeny bit of experience with incubation... I set six Araucana eggs (sp? the rump-less kind) and six Guinea eggs all at the same time. All eggs were pullet eggs. and Yep the Guineas take a week longer. It is VERY dry here in my neck of the woods so I put water in the incubator according to the chickens needs and the chart that came with the incubator. Yep I had a hygrometer/thermometer combo set in the correct spot. I forget what humidity I was going for... it was three or four years ago.

When ""lockdown"" was supposed to happen I turned the turner off and laid all the eggs on the floor of the incubator. Yep a week early for the Guineas... I figured they weren't going to hatch because they had been found on the bottom of the Guinea coop sitting in the sun at 98 degrees... and they had been kicked around some.

None of the Auracana eggs hatched... But at day 27 the Guineas started pipping and I had three Guinea Keets within 24 hours after that.

I understand NOW that Auracana eggs have an incredibly low hatch rate even with experienced people...

For what its worth I have a 1588 and didn't mess with any of the settings. I just plugged it in waited for the temperature to stabilize and filled the egg turner. I suspect that when i start setting Guinea Eggs again I will be overrun with the little buggers.

I should have went with the 1588. I bought the Little Giant 9300 and 10300. Huge mistakes. I get the temp set at 102 in one end 98 at the other. Come back 5 mins later and the temp is 108 in one end 95 in the other.
The 10300 has a fan type thing. It looks like a fan and turns; but does not move air.
I just took an old laptop apart for the fan.
Im gonna try to figure out a way to rig it up without burning down my house.
