Cynthia, I have tinnitus bad for many years. Had one of those white noise things - aggravated even more so gave it away. Usually the house has so many noises I'm good. But when things are really quiet - the noises in my ears get so bad I want to scream.

I've had it since 1983 so not likely it's going to abate.

I was told to get one of these things for me at night. Because I have tinnitus really bad.
White noise is what the dr. called it. Background soft noise. I never got one though. I just try and listen to the heater, or the fan, which ever season it is. Works ok.

We have a annual hearing test at work they ask if you have ringing in your ears, heck yeah every time I get in that sound proof room it's all I hear, sounds just like the high pitched beeps of the hearing test. Really annoying when I'm hunting and it's quite, can't hear much with your ear ringing.

Today was a beautiful day so I went out to a small canyon near my house to get a few pictures of some old mining ruins. Not sure what they were for but kinda neat to see.

Sadly, I'm with you for about as long. I have to lay in bed watching old tv shows until I get so sleepy I can fall asleep despite the noise in my ears.

My husband likes to sleep with the TV on so I sleep with ear plugs because I can't NOT listen.

I have tried several herbal supplements but none of them helps mine. I guess it depends on the reason for the ringing. I think mine is from listening to jet engines and other loud aviation related noises. I seem to ignore mine until I think about it and then it is full force . It is useful when I don't "hear" my wife.
