The Old Folks Home

Yes, that's why I call it "have a heart(less)" because they don't get released to a new area.

The broody duck business isn't. She's made a nice nest, and covers the eggs, but I don't think she's going to sit. Her behavior has changed significantly since losing her mate - she spends most of her day now loudly quacking. I let her out at night for about an hour and she just waddles around weirdly sucking up clumps of dirt or pieces of leaves (she never used to do that). She won't go to bed, which is also completely unusual for her.

Just starting to get light here... gotta go on FoxWatch(TM).

I also maybe found a home for girl duck, if she doesn't sit. Unfortunately the guy has atrocious grammar and I'm trying very hard to be non-judgmental about it.

However, he just told me he feeds his duck bread and pellets, so now I might have a legitimate reason to tell him no.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like ducky heaven... If you're too lazy to make an effort when writing a few e-mails (which honestly shouldn't be that difficult), then you're probably not going to pay attention to details in other areas of life either... and that diet doesn't sound very balanced.

I haven't been keeping up, it's a busy time of year and being 500 posts behind, I'm not even going to try.

I put 36 eggs in the hatcher that were due to hatch in 2 1/2 hours. I can see at least 4 out already and lots more pips. Most are in pedigree bags so I can't really tell what's going on till I see a chick. The window to the hatcher drawer is on the front so I can't really see into the back.

Congratulations!

I have a small hatch going, just 7 eggs since it was a fertility test. I have 4 pita pinta and one OE(Arkansas Blue x Partridge Penedesenca) out now.
