vehve I would have a very hard time butchering something as adorable as those baby bunnies. I never had rabbit meat mainly because I always considered them pets. We had pet rabbits when I was growing up. Now that I raised and butchered my own chickens, I might be able to try rabbit meat although I don't know if I could butcher a rabbit. Are you raising these for your own personal consumption or to sell as meat rabbits?

Own consumption. It would take a lot bigger operation to make it worth while to sell the meat. We will be giving away some as gifts too, probably. The neighbors certainly deserve one, as often as they've taken care of our little petting zoo while we've been away.

I recommend trying rabbit if you get a chance, prepared right it's delicious. You can also substitute chicken with rabbit in most recipes.

Rabbit is very good when done right! I love the idea of gifting - one of my favorite gifts I receive each year is a box of farm raised pork from one of my friends.

My Mom raised rabbits when I was a toddler so I first had rabbit when I was very young. There is a family story about me looking at just born kittens(I was three years old) and asking how long it would be before we could eat them!

Ron, haha, I draw the line at cats. I could consider trying dog at some point though, but to my understanding the ones they eat in some places are their very own breeds, sort of like broilers.

My parents were supposed to come and stay with my son when his sister was born, but it didn't work out that way, and he wound up being in the delivery room as she entered the world (he was 4 years old at the time). My husband was standing near the door, holding him in his arms, and trying to stay out of the way as much as possible (it was 6 am, and we'd only been there a few minutes, so it was rather chaotic). As the child known here as BB2K began to cry, I heard a little voice from over near the door, "That's a baby people!"

9 1/2 months of talking about his soon-to-be baby brother or sister, giggling over watching the baby have hiccups in my tummy, getting the crib and all the other stuff ready . . . . and he was expecting a rabbit.

Felix, I am very sorry I looked at your bunny video, they are gorgeous, especially the spotted ones, didn't realize you are going to eat them. Why don't you breed some very ugly, mean, mean ,mean bunnies to eat?
